Re: Figure is outlook speaking
I've heard of approaches to weight loss that make it purely about a spiritual battle, which can be an exhausting approach--especially since struggles with food are a mixture of issues generally, plus "analysis paralysis" and all that! In this, I find No-S really freeing. I don't have to know why, I...

Hmmm... I think the same, but I would say that if I have healthy habits vis a vis diet, exercise, sleep and stress reduction, then my levels of neurotransmitters are balanced and I have no problem eating moderately, but if I don't, then my dopamine receptors get desensitized and I get low levels of ...

If your doctor told you to eat more frequently, then it's still canonical No S to eat more than three meals a day. If you need to eat 5 meals a day for medical reasons, then just use smaller plates. There is a section on the main diet page about that. Eating a mini-meal is very different from diving...

What do you have with soup?
I have been on a huge soup kick lately. I've just been having salad and bread with my soup, since it doesn't seem like a meal by itself.
What do you all have with your soup? Also, feel free to share any soup recipes.

Another example of the usefulness of shugging muscle
I helped a friend move yesterday, along with her boyfriend and mine. We are all between 40 and 45 years old, and she had her big, strapping 20-year-old son helping as well. It became apparent quickly that my friend's son and I were the best at moving things. Our boyfriends were really embarrassed wh...

I would say that it's not a sweet unless you're guzzling them all day. At 50 calories, they are a little more than a third of a 12 oz soda. It would probably be better to substitute a real cup of coffee with sugar and milk, since the sachets sound like one of those laboratory-formulated concoctions ...

I would suggest upping the ratio of less calorically-dense food to more calorically-dense food (i.e. vegetables to fatty foods) on your plates. You still get the same amount of food, and the fiber will keep you just as full. Also, it may be time to add some movement if you don't already. My weight d...

It's not really a diet challenge, but the summer heat is a problem for my Urban Rangering, which is absolutely necessary for me to be at my healthy weight. Last night I actually borrowed my boyfriend's dog and went on a walk at midnight. I know the simple solution is to get up early in the morning a...

Except for oatmeal, I don't do advanced prep, but I always have defaults on hand. My current favorite is Optimized Ramen: use miso paste, soy sauce and sriracha instead of the packet that comes with it, throw some bagged broccoli or carrot slaw in, and just pour boiling water on top. Wait three minu...

Welcome! You can do this. It's not going to be as hard as you're building it up to be, I promise. This is how all our grandparents ate and how healthy people all over the world currently eat. It is not cruel and unusual. ;) Skipping breakfast and lunch and eating three meals in succession does not s...

I agree about snacking. I read a book by one of the researchers ( Mindless Eating ), and if I recall there were a lot of tiny habits that separate normal weight from obese people. Things like thin people stand more, they keep snack foods put away and not out visible, they look over a buffet before l...

I want to enjoy my food, and hunger really is essential for that (for me, anyway), so I often skip breakfast because it sounds gross. No S is a nice safety net for eating intuitively. I think the No Seconds rule is really about having a definite stopping point to a meal and not as much about the amount of food. The veggies, let's face it, made no difference at all, but having more continues a habit that causes weight gain in most people. People will start to respect your new habi...

Hello all, first post. Been No S-ing for a while (with good success), but I've decided to jump in.
