I second the comment about fibre, but personally find that it's most effective if the meal has a good-sized amount of protein too. Clicky's beans do it for me as well (if you'll pardon the expression!) but then again, they're also pretty high in Vegetable proteins. The best thing is to experiment an...

On the topic of things that are 'nearly the same as something else' ie, splenda, made from sugar etc. often it's the things that are *nearly* but not quite the same that are most harmful to our bodies, biochemically speaking. Well, last night wasn't a disaster, but it wasn't really perfect either. Restart that No-S counter then for the 3rd time I think. Oh well. Never mind! Every day I *do* manage to do this properly is better than not at all and even when I'm bad I'm less bad than I used to be. That was DEFINATELY NOT j...

Hi guys! Nah, we're still in Leeds for the time being. S begins working in Amsterdam on 22nd August and will be going out there on the 20th. I'll still be here in Leeds for a little while longer than that as we have to get our house sorted out and make arrangements for our Lyra-Cat to join us. I rec...

Part of me thinks that one of the only reasons weightwatchers 'works' at all is cos you're not going to pay out 5 quid a week to be weighed and told you're fatter than ever... ...of course, nearly all the people I know who've 'suceeded' at weightwatchers are busy putting all that weight back on agai...

Back from my Hols.
I weighed myself this morning and I've not gotten appreciably heavier, despite eating my way across most of Europe. Mind you, I was carrying 20 lbs worth of stuff in a rucksack and 'rangering' around rather a lot, so it probably balanced out. I'll try to update in a bit more detail later, but now I ...

Quick update, Yesterday was a SUCCESS. No funny stuff (as Reinhard puts it). This morning I did 5 minutes of SG as my arms are still sore. At least I'm still doing a little every day so it's a foundation. Tomorrow Morning I'm off on my hols. I'll be back at the beginning of August. love and hugs to ...

On the subject of preparing food... I could never be bothered with more than 3 meals a day. I love to eat and I also (more importantly in this context) love to cook, but sometimes I just get really tired of having to DECIDE what to eat all the time, 3 times a day! It sounds really silly, but it's li...

Decided to stick with 6 minutes again this morning cos my forearms were a little sore from yesterday. Hopefully I'll be able to up the time I do it for tomorrow, but one thing's for sure, I don't need to rush it cos I'm already doing more than I ever did before! S is still 'resisting' but I wonder h...

Hi All, Yeah, I was lying in bed last night and I realised I'd typed the wrong letter! What I meant was a 'sort-of half S day'. (Could I call it a 'c' day cos c is the top half of the letter S....?) As to moving, he'll move over and commute weekly for the first couple of months whilst we get everyth...

You're right. thanks for your help and support, once again :D Guess what though, all this 'soul searching' over some peanuts is a moot point anyhow, cos this evening became an honorary 'part N day'. My Husband has just gotten a permanent job - IN AMSTERDAM! So we went out to the local organic restau...

Actually my lunch was a little lighter than normal. I was eating the leftover greens and quinoa from last night but there wasn't as much of it as there should have been really. OK. I think I'll consider it 'virtually plated' with my lunch. I'm only mindful that I don't want to start making excuses b...

Oh dear!
I just snacked on a half a handful of mixed nuts and raisins.... Am I allowed to say that I don't think it was a big failure though? I mean, that's so much better than I used to do!!! I managed to eat them really slowly, tasting them properly and I didn't go 'nuts' (terrible pun, sorry!) and stuff t...

You *could* always start up a proper blog, Deb, and let us all share your everyday life, not just the 'S-diet' one! I have one at Livejournal.com (Same username as here). I started out with my shiny new 10lb sledge yesterday and did 2 sets of 5 minutes, one in the morning and one in the evening. This morning I did 6 minutes. I won't be doing any this evening cos I've got an Aqua Areobics class I go to on Tuesday nights (another fairly 'fun' exercise, plus I like the ...

PS2 has some really great things to make you move about, I find. I haven't got a DDR mat for mine, but I do have the Eye-Toy and there are some seriously hard-work physical games for that. Plus, because you're just playing, it doesn't really feel like exercise when you're doing it cos it's fun. Glad...

First day of the Second Week
Brit food is like everybody else's food. Some people might think that all americans ever ate was hamburgers! I've always been a serious fan of nice things to eat though. It helps that I love to cook too... Saying that though, Leeds also has some fantastic restaurants which have traditionally been my...

Take the stairs everywhere. That was enough of a change in my daily habits to start me off losing some weight in the past. I've restarted doing this too. If I have to get to the top floor, I'll do it under my own power now. I'm starting to see everything around me as a opportunity to do a little mor...

It is *absolutely* true about the Haz-Chem stickers. It's Corrosive. That's how come you can even use the diluted stuff for cleaning pennies in! Fantastic! It behaves just like bleach!!! Welcome to No-S! I'm just starting out too, I've been doing this for a week now. I'm allowing myself one snack a day which consists only of fruit or raw veg. It helps to have this to munch on mid afternoon instead of visiting the snack machine in the search for some chocolate. I mentally 'plate' thi...

Oh, yet more on Phosphoric Acid.. This stuff is so harmful that when they transport Coca-Cola syrup in bulk tankers it must travel with a 'Hazardous Chemical' warning sticker. Do you really need another reason not to drink coke? OK, here we go. The Coca-Cola company is currently sponsoring the 'bump...

I know what you mean about not actually eating the things you wanted to eat during the week. Last week I really really wanted that twix bar. Come the weekend, I really didn't fancy it so much at all, so I didn't eat it and didn't feel hard done by at all! I didn't get my jammy doughnut either, but t...

Cheers Deb. Yeah, I know I rock, really I do! In fact, it's kind of odd, cos I always reckoned I must have some kind of 'reverse anorexia' (please excuse the non-political correctness of it all, it's a metaphor in this sense only) because when I look in the mirror, I really genuinely see a thin pers...
