Michael Pollan is funny
I'm up to page 60+ in In Defense of Food. Michael Pollan is quite entertaining, and accurate. I just worked my way through the small section where he equates our not enjoying our food with our Puritan roots. (Has a bit to say about Dr. Kellog as well...which reminded me a bit of "The Road to Wellsvi...

Batter up, I'm giving this another star. I haven't gained anyweight, and my body shape is changing after 3 months of riding the Airdyne, but I haven't lost weight either. Last night my work place had a birthday celebration for one of our co-workers. For you children of the 80's who remember "The Goonies" you could never forget Jeff Cohen as "Chunk". ("I pushed my sister down the stairs and blamed it on the dog...") I am shooting for August 1st, but apparently I need a tonsillectomy and nose rceonstruction inside and out. The "specialist" says I can look forward to at least 10 days of protein shakes. He also said with this procedure they don't skimp on the pain pills. So, maybe I can break that magical 170.

Not literally that is...I weigh 186 on my scale (5' 9"), but theoretically. One of the allusions Tom Naughton made in Fat Head is that government "ideals" don't necessarily fit. I try to limit pizza to one plate when we eat it. Unfortunately where I live Dominoes is the only "parlor" that will deliver where I live, and I'm to lazy to drive to Pizza Hut. And since I think Dominoes is awful (my thought on the matter) I eat pizza about every other month. On a bit of a side not...

I think his original purpose was to reveal that humans are omnivores (my wording) and we can eat just about anything, in moderation, and remain pretty healthy. Again, in the video, Dr. Oliver was very adamant about our snacking and 3 44 oz. Pepsis a day are what is turning us into corpulant Titans. ...

I think that this is the thing I don't get: (Why the French don't get Fat? an idea) "which has baffled the world's best scientific brains for a decade"? Why should it stump anyone? They eat better food than most of us. Even the croussants with chocolate chips I had a few years back when a bonifide F...

I can't believe I did that?
I was sitting on the couch the other day watching who knows what and started flipping through the channels. I came across Montel William's pressure cooker. Normally I very seldom use my credit card. Next thing I know I was on-line buying one. I got the 4.8 litre capacity model, but not the 6 litre. ...

I think I did eat more, in part because I did up the exercise, using the Airdyne 35 minutes 3 days a week, which by my Cooper Aerobic Point calculations gives me 30+ points a week. Which in his original 1967 book Aerobics was considered to be plenty for a grown up to do. I like using the Airdyne bec...

My Month in the Wilderness
I spent the month of February wandering day after day shoving whatever I could digest into my mouth. At least it wasn't 40 years, but for awhile it didn't seem as though it would stop. I have relearned a number of things, i.e. as much as I love Coke, I just can't drink it. I can tolerate the Diet Co...

Winter associated with over eating?
I think the weather (winter) and lack of sunlight (SAD) induces me to eat more. I have noticed in the past I eat more in the winter months (Dec- April) than I do in the Spring and Summer...I always assumed that Holiday overeating is do to the...holidays. After having thought this through, I wonder n...

Dr. Cooper did not go into detail on the formulation of his formula. I won't even try to guess. However, his background besides medicine was a high school and college miler. Apparently he doesn't understand not everyone runs (or ran) a mile in 4:38 seconds, nor is built to do that. I think his overa...
