Just reporting that I lost 4 lbs. overnight! I'm ecstatic! I'm kidding. About being ecstatic. I am SO aware that it is just a fluctuation of water. Or maybe I really DID burn 14,000 calories more than I ate yesterday.  LOL, yes! I laugh when the scale does a big drop and when it does a...

Yoga is treating me well. I found something to start with on youtube, some simple, slow moving stretches and beginner balancing moves, just exactly what I need after a couple of years of being a slug. Slowly opening up the joints, stretching the muscles. It will work around to an active daily pract...

Re: I think so!

I'm a healthy weight, and I'm just starting the no S diet plan as a way to maintain weight / cut back on sugar / maybe lose a few pounds in the long term. Mostly, I want to stop feeling guilty about eating so many sweets during my sedentary workdays. I also want to feel like I can ignore the magazi...

Felt like I was white-knuckling it a couple times this week, but the S days are mere hours away. I used my pressure cooker to make a lovely cheesecake for my husband and me, and when the weekend is over I'm going to put the remainder in the freezer where it's less likely to OOPS fall into my mouth ...

I also find I fluctuate with how much is enough--sometimes half a sandwich with fruit and a few pretzels on the side is plenty, and other times I really want a whole sandwich. I hope you can find a good pattern for you!

Sounds like a great vacation! Sometimes it takes time to transition back home, and a few off days can happen. You'll get back on track. Funny how getting back to a more regular, 3-meal day feels "good" though, isn't it?!

And another (gentle) suggestion: don't be afraid of the scale. I know it's not a popular opinion here, but I sincerely believe it's better to weigh daily so you can nip any problems in the bud early. In addition to my visualization technique above, daily weigh-ins were (and are) one of the keys to ...

When I have a sandwich, I'll add a small amount of chips to my plate. It's No S OK. I sometimes do this too. I remind myself in the times that I don't lose that before No-S,...

Re: Grain-based desserts are #1 source of calories in USA

"Grain-based desserts" are now the top source of calories in the United States, according to a recent analysis in JAMA internal medicine. That doesn't even include "dairy desserts" (number 10) or soft/energy drinks (number 4). Shocked? Disturbed? Depressed? I prefer to look at it in a more positive...

I was wondering if a normal weight person could use this to maintain a healthy weight. Thank you! Yes! I wouldn't feel badly about this--you have a lot going on. Call the funeral day an S day, and if you have another emotional day or two with all the family there, take another S day--but then get back on track when you can.

I'm sorry for your loss.
