I'm not sure going as a group would protect anyone. But the odds are with any one person attending. I didn't read any news on it, but I hope it stayed peaceful. Just read a chilling article on how anti-Nazi German protesters actually helped make them more powerful. And the comments afterward proved ...

Thanks, r. jean. OMGosh, if I could ever have learned to roll with the punches of the kids, as you have to with the BD kids, I might be planning to stay longer. And I'd be making real money! Just went to a meeting on Medicare and beyond. It sounds like it could be so scary out there. And expensive. ...

What about possibly dividing your dinner in some way to slow it down so that you don't snack later nor eat much more? I mean, it seems a shame to lose out on the calorie deficit.

Seeing what you're willing to do and not do is so...crisp! Right along the concept of bright lines, and I don't mean the big online diet program.

Where's that long post I wrote to you? It was mostly about how stable my weight was back in my late 20's even though I was eating stupidly, and so many of us did. It was higher than I wanted but was still in the "normal" BMI range. What might life have been like if I had just lived that life at that...

I hope you would never feel you have to lie to us! If having some form of "treat"-I'm going to guess you mean sweet-every day on vacation is all the failing you did-not snacking all day and seconds galore plus a couple of desserts-I'd say your habit practice before this trip has really influenced yo...

No one can guarantee that you will ever stop getting some urges to eat outside of meal time. Even those in slim cultures feel those pulls a bit, but they know so well that it's a bad idea that they dismiss them rather easily. I still get them at some of the "old" times, even though I went for a coup...

I know I'm a broken record but the non-scale motivations have always been what sustained me. I don't want to offer un-guaranteed hope, but my drops in weight almost always happened well into periods of lighter eating, not right up front. I enjoyed the lighter eating, too. That's the only reason I fo...

Thank you! I actually don't have a problem with having access to the "right" foods. Got a ton in my fridge! I'm just deciding right now it's worth it for the comfort I get to "use" the others. Weird. I'm glad I never allowed myself to think that in the past, and I know it won't continue. I'd like to...

That actually sounds reasonable. If your situation changed and you "had" to eat away from home more, you would probably have to find a solution. What you do isn't that different likely from how it was for humans early one. If you can recreate that, great. In fact, we are all in the process of learni...

I personally have never been positively motivated by seeing myself bigger. I've always resisted the idea that I HAVE to be smaller. My motivation has just about always been not being willing a) to feel I was a slave to food and b) to be too full too often. I saw No S as a way to counteract both of t...

Thanks, Merry. The one thing I'd like to explain is that when I said they eat routine meals, I don't mean they eat the same thing all the time (although the French and Italian breakfasts don't deviate much), but that the components of the meals are pretty much routine, unless it's a special occasion...

I tried similar ideas about waiting till you're hungry to eat and not eating more than you're hungry for. The problem is you can fool yourself into thinking that you're hungry, although I did get pretty good at being able to distinguish real hunger. But I can totally agree about the fact that you ca...

No matter what the reasons are, you can limit your eating even if the other conditions don't change. You can be slightly depressed, anxious, stressed, etc. and still stick to a meal plan. You can have desires, urges, and hunger and STILL stick to a plan. I don't mean to undermine your therapist but ...

TONS of luck and, even better, strength! Did we "talk" anywhere else? I know I recently communicated with someone about this plan. The problem I saw, at least from my meager vantage point, is that it doesn't allow for weaning yourself off the overeating habit. Also, I think it said early on that you...

Some good observations. But you might surprise yourself once in awhile and not snack later even though you feel you didn't eat enough earlier. You can snack on your "reserves." I've still got a whole convenience store of reserves where the buttocks meet the thighs.

I've been compliant all of August with my little intense 4-minutes, though I've worked out more some days and have certainly walked some distances. It's very hard to justify not doing 4-minutes! I'm humbled that we can be of any help, but I agree about the value of the social outlet here. I don't think anyone can predict when the thoughts will calm down, but I think your thinking strategy is wise and it makes perfect sense to me to use a food routine for a foundation. Big hugs.
