I've never gotten the consistent exercise thing down. It just seems easier NOT to do something (eat) than to DO something. Don't be afraid to start with just a few minutes at a time. I have occasionally worked up some streaks by starting with 4 minutes of vigorous moves, akin to Shovelglove except w...

I haven't followed too closely. Has your habit been fairly strong for several weeks? BTW, I was browsing a bit in your previous posts and wanted to tell you that I'm pretty sure my thighs were 26+" before I started. I don't know what they are now, but I doubt they are under 22. Thankfully, thigh siz...

My parents did not give the slightest hint of obsessing over my college stuff. I"m eternally grateful that they paid for my last two years at UC Santa Cruz. I don't know if they fretted about it between them. But I was the first in my family to go, so they didn't know what it was all about. I wonder...

Hard to know. I'm not doing any flour restriction that I hadn't been for quite awhile. The thing is, no matter what reason occurs to me when this kind of thing happens, I can always find examples where under the same condition I didn't get tripped up. Two foundational Beck strategies are to daily re...

Big time fail. And how did it start? by having a very light breakfast and then feeling empty, which rarely happens anymore, and deciding that meant I could snack. Oh the cherries I ate! (and is my digestion reacting now) Then the whole grain flour pancakes I ate at dinner! I really am starting to th...

You'd have to change your username if you started living on diet shakes. No more experimenting with them unless you're willing to. :P Was this because you thought you weren't losing fast enough? I thought you thought things were going ok. Isabel Foxen Duke, an anti-diet (anti ANY restriction) maven ...

Isn't it interesting to not be thinking about how you could add food back later? So often on diets, people are encouraged to limit their food a lot to lose and then increase it a little (because who can keep up the enforced limitation?) But with No S, it leads to realizing you don't need to add anyt...

Ironically, I met up with a friend in Los Angeles in a hilly neighborhood with several sets of stairs. Between the stairs and walking around to find them we climbed the equivalent of 14 floors and a distance of 2.4 miles. I think the longest set was about 200 steps. We saw women doing that set multi...

Yeah, I was supposed to wait until I was hungry and stop when I was full. That's almost as hard as being on a diet, and with a lot more room for denial. I drove up to the L.A. area today to meet with a Spark online friend who lives in a suburb called Encino. We went to a residential canyon that has ...

There is certainly no obligation to have an S on an S day. I think of them as S days because of the OPTION, not actually having an S at all.

When you feel sweets have become a burden is the best time to limit them.

Bought my kryptonite yesterday and ate it. Went up 4 lbs. Not one bit surprised. Though it might be more! Did I overeat by 14,000 calories, which is the amount it would take to gain 4 lbs. of fat? You know the answer. I don't even expect any of it to go away because I'm not planning to eat in a way ...
