I used this site. If you put in stats, it will come up with an ideal. If you put in that ideal, it will often come up with a new, lower one until you finally hit the one at which peers are satisfied. These weights are dang low and are nothing to aim at. For instance, when I barely got into my normal...

It is amazing to me that I am reading your posts for the first time and seeing myself quoted. Unfortunately, I've seen that this whole topic continues to take an inordinate amount of my time, too, like you saw that diet talk/reading did. I still haven't found anything else quite as compelling. But I...

That is a great attitude-put it behind me and get back on track. The value of overdoing it, in my opinion is in how it is a reminder of how lousy we feel from the overeating that seems so important at the time. It's clear evidence, not someone telling us. This week, give yourself lots of credit ever...

I would think they are fine. Have as many as you might have for a moderate serving if they weren't dried.

I know their taste is primarily sweet, but I think it's really the heavily sweetened items that we're meant to avoid.

No one is promising that this or any eating behavior change will be easy. Changing habits isn't usually easy. But it's a lot easier than living on a calorie-controlled or elimination diet for most people. But you can't know if it will be an improvement if you don't give it a good faith effort for a ...

You are going to get lots of different feedback, most likely. If you are just starting out, I recommend being true to Vanilla No S for a few months before you start making changes. The alternative is to wean yourself off the S's in a systematic way, but try not to flip flop. The way I used to handle...

Your reflections on what you need to do sound good. I gently suggest talking only to us about all this. I think our cultures have gotten too caught up in such talk, esp. around meals, which I think ruins them. I say the only appropriate food talk at a meal is how good the food is, and that can go on...

You didn't break any S rules last Sunday. It's common for people to have a lot of 'em at first and even at various times. The eating habit is very strong, as is the knee-jerk resistance to reining it in. Perhaps see if there is ONE meal gap you can start with. You may eat a lot at other times of the...

My weight loss has always gone is stages, except for the first 10 lbs in that first couple of months. I marvel at people who lose steadily, week by week. I keep thinking this last drop is going to bounce back up to previous heights, but it's gone up only about 3 lbs., which makes perfect sense. How ...

You keep eating when you're upset because it's a strong habit. It's made up of sensations that you associate with eating and likely thoughts that excuse it. It's a brain pattern that produces these in order to protect the habit. It really thinks it's protecting you. It's likely that the only thing t...

You're not the first.

I'm always amazed by people who say the weight "just melted off" or "just fell off" with low carb. I suspect there's some missing information.

Which is not to say I don't sometimes have meals with little carb.

Nice to see you again.

Actually, since the body is mostly water, it's no surprise it's where most of the fluctuations come from. It's also integral to storing sugar; dismantling those stores is what all the water weight loss is in the beginning of reducing calories. Each deficit of about 200 calories accounts for only 1 o...

Gorging on S days is just supposed to allow the rebellion to get out of the system. It's certainly not sanctioned to go on and on . The book says eventually in essence whole weekends might go by without eating an S because your needs are met delightfully without them. But that might take awhile.

Thank you so much for saying that! Though I think of myself as possibly an eating coach, with a smidgeon of health. I'm just guessing on that front.

So, can pushing your toe the other way bring a 5-lb. drop? So much for measurements.

When I weighed (every day and averaged once a week), I saw that same pattern. Wansink has seen it in much bigger numbers. Gotta be mostly water, as fat stores cannot shift that much in such a short time.

Here's wishing you a nice green Friday and lovely weekend.

One researcher said something interesting: getting upset afterwards didn't really change the behavior but wanting to AVOID get...
