I feel resentment sometimes that I have urges to eat when I'm not actually hungry. Maybe it's the same thing as what you're talking about. And another thing I do resent is how hard it is to find a reasonably priced decent quality meal when I'm out and about. I don't want a plate of heavy stuff and I...

I'd bet your doctor has seen it all, and besides, I think they see things differently than we do, and in a good way. It's more clinical for them. It's just a condition.

Congrats on not answering the food calls.

MaggieMae, there are more reasons than just weight loss not to give in to that stuff when the urges come. I know it's hard to get motivated to do things now to make your old age better, but just trust me that your brain will thank you. It's not your imagination that food does actually quell anxious ...

I didn't phrase that well. In fact, I can't figure out what I was trying to say now! I was curious about something, not saying anything was curious. I actually didn't expect to lose, having entered menopause myself before I started, but it happened anyway. I can't say it was painless, just a lot les...

S days were never supposed to me we would permanently eat just because we could. I needed a lot of lessons in this. I felt unwell countless times! Curious to know what the S days were like before. (My early ones started with syrup-drenched pancakes and were a chocolate-and-carb all day fest for a loooong time.) Was it a lot of snacking?

Had a wild day after Valentine's on discount candy. Boy it was delicious, but my body hasn't recovered. Actually, it hasn't recovered from the ensuing eating I did in an attempt not to restrict. walking and weather

I asked Reinhard about how often weather had stopped him from walking to work and he said it hadn't. Here in SoCal today, rain was predicted, but it was mostly just windy until about an hour ago. So, by golly, I put on a scarf and a coat, hung my umbrella on my arm, and walked to a local restaurant ...

Linda, I gently ask: what do you think you are missing out on by following the rules? What do you miss out on when you don't follow them? Even more than a stern talking to, seeing that you can't get something you really want if you don't follow the rules, and that you aren't giving up something real...

Being able to accept some hunger, especially close to meals, is a great skill to aspire to. Congrats on being able to get through even when it comes earlier (mid-afternoon). Bluebell, you are normal; it is almost the rule rather than the exception to do that. There is a subtle way in which a part of ourselves thinks it has done penance for the "sin" and can therefore do it again, because all we have to do is feel bad about it. It's a habit, too. Isn't it great that brea...

Most of these sound so smart and un-junky that it makes me wonder what people were eating before No S. Was it basically the same but you were doing a lot of snacking and eating desserts? Or have these default meals evolved from more fast food or the like?

Has weather ever stopped you from walking to work?

(I lived in Lynn for a year. We got released from school one day because of snow and I had to walk home through it. It was pretty easy. But there wasn't much wind. I think wind or heavy rain is harder than snow.)
