Oh, I see re:house, Did you say it was under water, so you'd take a loss if you sold? Still, I can see why you might want to get into something else you'd actually want to live in and be paying it off.

If you're eating was okay, it WAS a great week. (The exercise is a separate issue.) Praise yourself lavishly for the good week! That way your brain knows what you want. If I may say so.

Hope you enjoyed your meals today!

Jen, I've got some input on being a landlord, as I rent out the other side of my duplex and have two in Utah. but I'll write you separately. Pretty much agreeing with Linda. And Linda, your husband is probably right. Even if there is negative cash flow, you can regard it as a savings account, if the...

It's been only a few weeks after the holiday. Are you hovering around the same overeating pattern? If your N days can ease toward more moderation and you S days the same, not necessarily both at the same time, then all is well. March is a better time to take stock, IMHO (though you didn't ask...) An...

REad a guy recently who posits that it's not just the reward circuit but that the foods are so darn cheap and available. We don't power through other palatable foods that are really expensive or take a lot of preparation. He says people find prime rib pretty palatable, but they don't usually go over...

Hope you made it to your S days, or if you didn't, that you got through without much drama.

I'm having a no S holiday, though I may virtual plate at an MLK celebration I'm going to later. What about you?

It can all ebb and flow. Sane N days are the foundation. It takes different people different amounts of time to "get comfortable." We're here for the long haul.

Wasn't going to say more, but I bought in January of '05. The value of that house has gone up to about the high it was in 2006, but with interest, my down payment, and a deficit cash flow every month, I'm pretty sure selling two years ago put me in about the same place. If I had bought one year earl...

I gently recommend against the meal replacement. Have real food that you chew well and take your time eating. It's okay if some of it's calorific and fatty for now. One of my spiritual teachers in talking about the difficulties of a spiritual path said once not to wish for ease but to wish for stren...

Consider telling your friend gently that you're pleased with your plan and will reconsider joining her on it six months from now, if you're not still pleased. Odds are she will have gone through the honeymoon and divorce by then.

That was tricky. Only thing I think may have been an option was a nut milk or such in the afternoon and an early dinner. Or an extra hefty lunch? But past is past. Might you have access to a book by Pam Peeke? I seem to remember her recommending certain foods or combinations as replacements that sou...

Close is good, too. You can phase it out. Different food, smaller amount, delayed time.

Or white knuckle a few nights. I don't promise it will be cake after that, but it's amazing what 3 consecutive days can feel like.

Allison, so sorry. Honestly, I've been the one who wants to be gone at times. My mother never knew how deep it went. I seriously know what it's like to have thoughts and feelings that make that sound like that's the only way. It is not a light thing. It is not like bouts of discouragement. I can't s...

Just to reinforce, remember how much better you probably felt about your whole eating experience when you were at it. I still have the list of reasons I thought systematic moderation was the way to go for me. Although I wasn't convinced I would lose weight, I did have a few reasons that had to do wi...

Yeah, the plate is the upper limit, not the requirement. Being too full and too empty will happen. As time goes on, you'll manage either within the structure.

So you got that first water drop out of the way. That will still fluctuate, but it would even if you were dieting with not much leeway to adjust things without misery. Not all problem drinkers have to be abstinent, at least not from the beginning. Contrary to popular belief, most do eventually drink...

I do not eat the same exact foods every day but my meals, esp lunch and dinner, tend to be built of the same building blocks every day. Breakfast is simpler so it may be very starchy one day or very unstarchy another or a combo. Or very small.

I bought investment property in Prescott Valley. Lost dough. Won't go into the details. I think Prescott is one of the nicest cities in AZ. Historic charm, some influences that keep it from being overly rural, etc. I just saw a friend who moved there from San Diego several years ago. She owns a swee...
