I'm feeling a bit miffed (first world problem) because I used to have a routine for planning my meals that just used what I'll call building blocks. I've been looking at options for reasons other than weight loss, but the alternatives are not nearly so clear. The one I'm most inspired by is the Blue...

Sanity with food! And if that means a little less dense food on the plate, and sometimes even fewer eating events on weekends because the meals are richer, so be it. Or even better, hardly noticing. The irony is that the meals I eat now are very similar to what I used on WW, but I think S days without imposed calorie limits, including many wild ones, are what makes them even more desirable. (And S days are quite similar at times.) And I've counted calories only periodically only out of curiosity.

There is a sizable faction of slim women in this country who hate their bodies and fear food. They MIGHT live to a ripe old age, but we don't know. I'll do a check in here today until others voice their preferences. My first buffet supper. There are always TOO MANY choices of foods. It's almost impossible not to take a lot of food if I try even 2/3 of what's offered, even if I take small amounts, and I don't like looking at a couple of mouthful...

Welcome! It's a journey and we have all kinds of experiences: strong starts and smooth sailing, strong starts and later fumbles, weak starts, etc. None of them completely foretell who will be around in a year, but we do still have people posting years into it, having adjusted along the way, and they...

What do people think is the best way to work as a group on this? Should we just dial in to each other's individual threads and be diligent in keeping up there with reporting or reflecting, depending on how detailed we want to be? (I have to admit, I'm not very good about posting on my own thread. I'...

I've seen other data that shows that people's gain over the years is attributable to holiday weight they never quite take off. Even MORE incentive to arrive at New Year's without regret... And another place (am I obsessed, or what? and no, I don't remember where it was) that had a calculator that sh...

I'm starting by not letting myself nibble this afternoon. The next challenge will be eating lightly enough at a buffet tonight that I don't feel too full later. That will be key to arriving at New Year's with no regret this year. I know I always feel so much better after such events when I eat less ...

I feel for ya. I have some ideas but I'm leaving on a trip and can't put it all together now. I also don't want to be unnecessarily complicated, but it does seem you (and I and others) need more than just the basics. I may be missing this by not having read everything, but have you ever consistently...

You might want to post this question on this thread. I think Reinhard always read it, though not on weekends. Only people who read your thread will see it here on yours.

You were shocked that pizza tasted great? or were you kidding. I always want more pizza at the time I'm having it, but am always glad later I didn't have it. I feel too full but so thirsty that I keep drinking and feel really bloated. But it never stops tasting good. (On several lists, it's one of t...

Did you see my post with a link to Wansink research about holiday weight gain? In the U. S, and Finland? See, people don't even have to have a Thanksgiving for it to happen! I bet when you look back, it wasn't just that you gained but that you were FEELING heavy from having gotten used to overeating...

I call the afternoon time the "witching hours," even though it's broad daylight. It was and is my toughest time. (It's a lot of people's.) Mine is totally mental, or so I think. It's always after I finish with students and before i come home, a danger time when I can go buy something extra, but also...

No Regret New Year's
I don't mean to take away from the monthly challenges, but I'd like to provide a huddle space specifically for navigating the holidays, esp. in light of the link I posted previously. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/09/160928154110.html UPDATE: I'm adding a related link. This one shows tha...
