My health plan offers a sleep clinic which they claim has good results. I'm going to call to sign up after my two-week break coming up. I hope I'll have good news to report. I'm afraid it might end up that I just need to follow some advice similar to the simple recommendations of No S- which took de...

I haven't slept 8 hours for over 20 years. I don't know why, either, though when I'm on break, I do get a bit more. But I'm willing to sleep more any day; the body doesn't cooperate. It irks me so much when all these health articles these days say to get more sleep.

I had a pair of jeans in my give-away pile and pulled them out on a whim. They are the size I pretty much wear now. I thought, oh, were these in there by mistake? But when I tried them on, they bagged in the wrong places. I don't HAVE to wear form-fitting clothes all the time, but I know I could fin...

No S is so supportive of not having to have perfect plates. On Spark, there used to be a few people who would say they didn't have time to prep meals and such. I kept saying they were making it too hard on themselves! It's also amazing what can happen after several months of putting what works that ...

in training for No S holidays!

This is especially for those who have never lived through a No S holiday season. My count may be off by a day or two, but we have about 85 days (53 N days) to solidify the meal structure habit before the holiday season takes off on Thanksgiving. . It is so worth it to go through the holiday season e...

The author of the book "French Kids Eat Everything" told of how she asked her sister-in-law what would happen if her picky eater children (who pretty much held out for crappy food in North America) didn't like the food on the (sumptuous) menu at the French school they were going to attend. SIL repli...

I know a lot of people don't like the idea that health might be taken into account when planning meals, but it may help to remember that traditional societies didn't have to contend with the barrage of junk food we have to compete with their quality and variety of food choices. Even they are losing ...

The trick is to act determined when you don't feel determined. It's when you are most tempted that you will get the most benefit from not giving in.

HUGE success! You have already beat so many odds by losing and by keeping it off for as long as you have. May I ask what would be so bad about considering 180-ish your goal weight? It seems pretty easy to maintain. Or are you aware of continuing to unnecessarily overeat? Because if you aren't overea...

there is an advantage for me being close to the end of my teaching career. Last year, I got rid of a TON of stuff. Teachers nowadays want materials they can access on the internet. One woman at our school was supposed to be a resource person, with time allotted for that. I offered to give her origin...

I've written a lot about it. I'll just say that hunger is almost gone, but desire isn't. It feels like I am holding back, as if I"m on a diet, almost all the time. I'm not often at peace when I eat and when I don't. I'm actually tired of trying to figure it out. I've been doing systematic mods for a...

I can't remember who I asked, but glad to have any answer. Yeah, I'm moving toward less food, but it's not a happy change. I'd rather have my appetite back.

No different from when I didn't have this "problem." I don't think protein or whole food can take away hunger for 8, 12, 20 hours. And I wasn't hungry today after a hunk of sweets at a potluck yesterday. But thanks for thinking of me. The most annoying part is that the whole issue gets as much atten...
