Yeah, that's why I said I wasn't endorsing his methods for run-of-the-mill overeating. I might try them if I was in bad trouble! But just not snacking and limiting sweets/seconds are the boon I believe most of us need. It's a bonus for me that I now think I'm also avoiding unnecessary insulin, too. ...

insulin and snacking : maybe a repeat

I flubbed posting this correctly before. I may have even seen Fung's work mentioned here a long time ago. He's much more drastic than No S, but he is treating diabetes, not just overweight.

They were certainly what sustained me for years. Well, grain and sugar. I call all flour foods "particle" foods. I consider them to be partially digested. I'm experimenting with eating very little of them, even the unsweetened kind. What I find disturbing these days, after coming out of the worst of...

Even after the exhilaration of modified Atkins, sounds like the call of cookies and sweets overrode it. Dang it, some things DO taste as good as being thin feels! Curse those conscienceless food manufacturers. You probably know the research shows most low carbers end up on modified carbs a couple of...

Very moderate. Reduction is a time-honored way of easing into new habits. But there's nothing to say you can't find your own place to "rest."

Saw this too late most likely to influence things, but I would also have suggested to try to get involved in something a little more compelling than usual leading up to dinner, if possible.

I'd also suggest real food rather than a protein bar, if you feel you must eat. :)

I guess it just depends. I was a binger, and continued with wild S days for quite awhile. I lost about 10lbs. in a couple of months, I think, had another perfect month after that, and have never had quite the consistency in practice or weight loss since then. But I stuck with it, eventually ate even...

Glad just the basics are working. It's a delightful way to live.

Not having read all your years of reports, I apologize if you've covered this but have you altered at all over the years what you put on your plate or is it truly just less of the same? Fewer refined carbs or more veggies perhaps?

I'm always curious about whether people are actually (maybe secretly?) aware that they are eating more and the weight gain is no surprise but maybe a confirmation.
