I don't think anyone was suggesting you have fruit outside a meal. Just the opposite. No S can't make you follow its rules. If you want a dessert each day, no one can stop you. But it will have to be small and only you can keep to a small portion, if you eventually want to live sanely with food. But...

Why can't you have a soda with your meal, if you like? Until it seems worth it not to have one. And, yes, you CAN do it, though you may want to fade the habit out rather than force abstinence. Good thing I didn't buy, unless I had been smart enough to get out in a few weeks. But I probably wouldn't have just out of principle. I let my mutual funds do my dirty work for me.

Your attitude sounds good. Not too much drama about the failures. Rational reflection about what to do in the future. I think concentrating on the plates alone is a great strategy. The refinements will come later, esp. if it becomes very clear what you think the advantages are to make them. Sugar is...

I feel like I've done well, though I haven't been keeping good records, and what I've done well on are changes I've targeted that aren't No S. In some ways, I've traded success on those for failures on No S, but I see the trend is in the direction I want. I've also done better with exercise this mon...

I think if they hadn't found it was positively correlated, they wouldn't have included it. But the swap may be the explanation. I don't know if her work included many people who ate no animal flesh at all. They are exceptions in the world near and far. No Blue Zone regions are completely vegetarian.

OMgosh, I was just thinking about how much I used to read diet books while I ate either brownie batter or cookie dough. I've been looking at cooking and recipes lately, and feeling a bit the same. I'm not overdoing the eating regularly, but am not doing much cooking, either! It's more like food porn...

Just caught up with this. Congrats on the continued success! I thought I might be coming to India in fall of 2016, but it looks like it will be at least another year. Still depending on Patak's and Ashoka's brands, among others, for my Indian food. They flavor a lot of things that aren't usually on ...

Well, it's unlikely your weight gain is fat, if that makes a difference to you. The body doesn't usually react that fast to relatively slight variations in calorie increases. Glycogen has more water in it than fat does. And it sounds like the extras helped you either not obsess or eat even more. But...

It's not a big loss not to keep them around, as there are other lovely foods that don't have the same effect. And no shame, either. Big deal. If you really want candy bars, and aren't willing to go wild with them- I was-have some under controlled circumstances to start. Then see if they are worth it...

I have such a similar history! Though it took me longer to get to the low obese range, but I was there for a few years, and didn't have my turnaround until I was in my mid-50's. I went through a period before committing to No S in which I didn't try to change anything. I pretty much realized I wasn'...

I love No S, but I have to say that is a really fast start, especially when you don't have much to lose. It must have hit all the right spots for you- so glad! BTW, I just read recently that it's estimated that weight loss is about 80% diet and 20% exercise, so your experience fits. Your routine sou...

Linda, I toy with the idea of leaving out the chicken eventually, but it is interesting that it is one of the foods the researchers found a correlation with in reducing Alzheimer's. Notice that it is in the added column, not the limit column, but I am going to aim for just two times a week, when I a...

creating tables
Is it possible by some trick to create a table in Word and transfer it to my thread, then be able to x mark boxes to keep track of certain foods eaten? I know, it's pretty involved for No S. I may just have to do it on one of my desktops, but got three devices now!
