Also, and this might be getting too deep into things. but entertaining feelings of shame for long is PART of the overeating cycle. They actually make the cycle stronger. They are like the overeating. That's why in habit theory, it is said to give very little dramatic energy to failure. Calm, rationa...

Consider another tablespoon or the equivalent of a good fat along with protein. It's condensed enough not to make you feel bloated and, for me, just seems to blend with the other nutrients so that I feet full longer between meals.

Okay, I gently say that you have a lot of diet head going on here. This is about a lifestyle that you have to adjust to, not a diet you're going on. To be worrying on day three is diet head. You won't be shamed into eating less. It will be more of a body awareness thing. It isn't always completely a...

a BEC program

A member of another "eating" group I belong to just started a program for binge eating disorder at a center in her native Netherlands. I was appalled to read (she is, too) that she is REQUIRED as part of the program (12 weeks, I think) to commit to their eating plan, which consists of eating six tim...

Just goes to show. If we base most of our eating on unprocessed foods similar to the ones eaten back when meal-eating was the norm, and forget all the small studies, or even most diet studies, we're probably going to be fine.

dark chocolate works to reduce sweets for me because I don't like it. But it hasn't done anything for my still loving milk chocolate. I just choose not to have much at a time or often.

Welcome back! and congratulations on having maintained a 48-lbs loss for three years! But be careful purposely planning not to take S days. It smacks of dieting to reach a certain weight, not developing a lifelong habit. Now, if you get to a Saturday, have no event that is S worthy, and feel very co...

Oh, I meant to say, I'm no expert, but I'd say crying over not eating sweets for several days is a perfectly acceptable reaction, at least at first. Yes, there likely will be a lot of tension in not giving in to the withdrawal cravings, and in privacy, crying is a decent enough release. I would bet ...

I just read today the comment of a woman who lost her weight years and years ago. (Some people can maintain slim bodies with pretty outrageous eating habits. ) But...

graphic on vegetable/fruit consumption

Don't know if they really consider potatoes to be vegetables. Technically, I guess so, but I don't really think that's what nutritionists have in mind. I'm shocked by Alaska beating out many continental states, since its growing season is 20-50 days shorter than many other states'. https://www.googl...

good insight about it being overdue. And likely unpleasant enough that you'll see the signs before it gets out of hand next time. I think your relatively sane behavior (comparatively speaking) about food before you started No S will help you get over wild S days faster than I did.

Just keep working on being as honest as you can be about how much food is enough. It can be hard to face how little it takes, but there is a sacrifice either way. And perhaps another year of even more solid habits at home will make it easier to carry your environment with you- in your head. Believe ...

Preachin' to the choir... at least this member!

Though I'm not even a fan of the "healthy" goal, as people can get SO caught up with the minutiae.

I still love Reinhard's emphasis on moderation. Moderate food. Moderate exercise. Those two will take care of 80% of the health problems.
