germanherman, you don't have to worry about this woman aiming at single digit bodyfat or even the teens. But even for a man, 9% is impressive, esp. since it's basically a side effect. Those poor guys slaving for it!

I've been on another site for years and had seen so many times younger women who were in the mid BMI range who were in solid restrict/binge cycles for years because they thought they should be at the low range instead. Ah, me. I tried a few times to offer my point of view from decades later, but it'...

True, but food in general was much harder to come by. If I had never gained and then lost weight, I think I could tolerate more food without gaining weight, and it would definitely be fat I would include more of. I still like my starches, so I'm careful with fat. I still do eat some low and no-fat i...

Yes, No S does demand a fair amount of honesty regarding how much of the plate needs to covered with dense foods to satisfy hunger enough to allow for hunger for the next meal. At this point, my lunches are about the equivalent of half a sandwich, maybe a little more, of dense food. The freggie amou...

My understanding is that French students have a 2-hour break in the middle of the day: an hour to eat and an hour to play. I can tell you from the perspective of a high school teacher: the admin plans as little time outside of class as possible because the more time students are not in class, the mo...

Welcome! So interesting to hear of the 3-meal tradition in Germany. I knew it is the tradition in Italy and France, but not Germany. Just goes to show that whole populations can live quite well without snacking. Not only are you already in the healthy BMI range, you are also lighter than 81% of your...

Having another anxious day over procrastination. It's okay, though. It's just part of the mix of my life. Just felt like acknowledging it. I had gone through a lot of legalizing all foods before No S, so I never had N day meals of all processed foods. I rarely have a meal without freggies. For years I had protein at most meals but I guess things have balanced out, as I can be satisfied without always having animal protein now. (For var...

How I ate in the first year is not the same as how I eat now, 40 lbs. lighter. I wanted bigger meals and overate on weekends. Now N day breakfasts are very small, lunches rather small, dinner moderate to big. S days have gotten quite moderate but vary in meal numbers and content. Small to me is 1-1....

Ellyn Satter wrote of saying when and what kids eat; they decide how much. She emphasized that eating time should be eating time. Kids sit down and concentrate on the food. No carrying around food and eating it while playing or other activities. French children eat only one snack a day, around 4 p.m...

I have mealtime windows on weekdays, about a 90-minute window for breakfast, lunch at same time because of work schedule, about a 2-hour window for dinner.

I know of no slim cultures who have their members eat just when hungry. They don't leave it up to chance.

I'm coming down on the other side. I've seen people who ate three meals and a snack at the time they found most challenging regularly for quite awhile before it became more natural to skip the snack. One of those people, who is retired, is now having some 2-meal days on several days a week by choice...

S days can be rougher than people want for longer than they want. Try not to let that get in the way. If they don't calm down on their own after a few months, there are options.

Sounds like bloat is preferable to the alternative right now. Tailbones are serious business! Hope you heal soon.

People will often put a bowl on a larger plate and fit other food around it, but it sounds like that may be a smaller issue for you. Not snacking may be the crux of the issue for you.

Have fun eating!

I had been only about 85% compliant with N days. That may have compounded the issue with wild S days., but it was enough success that the contrast was still striking and the benefits were palpable enough to keep striving for the two years. N days are crucial, in my book, too.

Noni, sorry if I'm repeating myself, but I implemented a mod on S days after a couple of years or more of wild S days and it has worked quite well, in my opinion. All of this is why I take my "evidence" from large "samples": Italy and France, the countries with two of the lowest average BMI's in Europe, a region whose low count can't usually be attributed to a high degree of poverty. Until recently, neither of those cultures was a consistent snacking culture....
