Many NO S users don't like admitting that it is possible to follow it and not lose, but I gently say that it can't trick your body into losing weight without a deficit. Dunno what that name would be, but it would be helpful to have one. The British have the term "peckish" that I wish we could use for it. Though I lost weight without exercise, I wouldn't negate its ability to nudge weight loss, too. If the exercise is vigorous, you will burn calories for more than the time you exercise. Even moderate exercise done consistently will shave off weight, if your eating stays moderate or less, but I wouldn...

I wish eating speed was the issue. I've been the slowest eater at the table for about 20 years. Sigh. But I haven't given up on untying this knot. It will just take time. TX! :)

Oh, my, I felt enough grief at the thought of the loss of overeating on S days that I couldn't face ANY mods for a couple of years! It didn't make any sense at the time (still doesn't) because I loved my N days so much, but I didn't push it, either. I'll never know if it could have been different, b...

No need to apologize for long posts. Many people learn a lot from such detail, especially when there's not a lot of either excessive self-blame or too much letting oneself off the hook, so to speak. I think you are in a wonderful place! You ate in the early a.m. hours of Saturday but felt you were b...

Or, just eat the normal amount and don't be so full. Give yourself a chance to get used to that feeling. It may be a perfectly normal one we misinterpret as a need for food when it's not, just as we may have felt any little twinge or impulse to eat communicated a real need. Unlikely. Ten days is jus...

If it makes you feel any better, I did some extra eating that I surely didn't need on the weekend. Extra fried chicken and extra cake AFTER having plenty and then ICE CREAM for dinner a few hours later. But the difference is I didn't weigh. I've seen it too many times. And I'm sure you didn't eat 21...

I know it sounds paradoxical and is, but I'm an ex-binger and bingers don't eat because they're hungry. I wanted to quit binging because I felt so crappy a lot of the time. No S made me feel so much better so much more of the time, but in the last several months, I don't feel better. I would often w...

I have three of Anne Barone's books, so I like her, but she can be very mean, calling overweight women "fatties" and such. Shaming techniques do not really work for most overeaters, or women overeaters, I don't think. They feel plenty of shame already. But I use many of her principles all the time. ...

JJ, I highly recommend against doing that. Wait until you have 5-day stretch of N days, if you must weigh. Or pretend you're on a long overseas trip with no access to a scale. What would you do? You'd get by without it. And keep working toward consistent moderate eating.

Don't set yourself up with an romanticized view of "normal." Normal people do give attention to eating. It's actually not normal to completely forget about food unless you're eating. Even in slim cultures, people look forward to and reminisce over wonderful meals, and make efforts to eat moderately....
