I'm glad! And never lose touch with the reward of vitality and harmony with your true appetite. Very few people win at changing their eating just to be smaller. See pp. 56, 57 and 77. Reinhard isn't a big fan of artificial sweeteners, but it's not a central issue for No S. Beverages, both caloric and non-caloric, are acceptable between meals. He does recommend staying clear of fake or partially fake fruit juices.

Three years in, I use beverages variously.

I know what you mean, but let's hope we could grow another, more useful and successful industry, or expand other ones we already have. We might spend more on better quality food and on other interests.

I feel I've done very well over the three years having milky coffee or mocha (maybe two cups on weekdays, sometimes even a little more) between meals. Lately, I've been cutting down.

What gets me is that people spend so much time paying attention to studies that in the end examine only a fraction of people, while nearly the whole population of two countries basically follow No S. Find me a slim culture (that has access to food consistently and is not just poverty-stricken) that ...

Just eat more freggies. Be careful about movies. I'm sure they were great, but they, like diet books, have an agenda and do tend to push the extremes.

I find chewing to be central to satiety. Freggies provide lots of opportunity to chew. Let your jaws do the juicing!

What fits into your life makes a difference, too. Personally, I don't think it's worth it to give up the social aspects of food sharing just to get a few more pounds off. I've definitely cut down on salty foods, but I won't give them up forever to avoid any water retention. It's got to work as a who...

Sounds like you have a plan, but I thought I'd add my own two bits especially since I'm single, though I've never been opposed to simple cooking. I make plain beans (usually have two kinds cooked on hand) and grains in bulk and freeze them. (Some meat, too, but less and less, and not applicable to y...

I think you've got the gist. I just want to add that I think if you make it habit to eat things in reasonable portions (say, the volume of your fist), that will become the default. And know that it is normal to experience desire for food and also normal not to always eat because you have a desire. F...

I greatly encourage you to think in terms of learning to eat moderately forever, rather than having a certain amount of weight to lose. What is moderate for you will likely change over time, and may even resemble some "diet" meals- except you'll be choosing them because you like them and they make y...

I don't suggest you go for eating for hunger during the week, though over time, it will be gratifying to eat just enough at meals so that you get hungry for the next one. Same goes for meals on weekends, though it can be more casual, in the sense that it isn't as if you've worked all day and eaten o...

It took awhile for me to get there on S days. Sometimes I do it ad hoc, sometimes I purposely have the same 3-meal structure with no additions because nothing sounds good enough. The hardest thing for me to deal with was that I was hungry fewer times a day on S days because I ate either a bit richer...

Fast food just begets mostly water. There is no way you overate by thousands of calories. In my life, fast food (in the form of pizza or Mexican food) is going to happen sometimes, as long as I still enjoy it. I'm not going to forgo it to manipulate the water I store. But I do limit it because it's ...

I'm so glad now that I don't eat a sweet every day. It's just too easy to want more, they replace more satisfying (to me, now) foods, and it's to easy for them to make me too full later. I just don't enjoy a little square of chocolate or the like very much. Still have mocha with stevia. HOld on! You...

I surrendered to realizing that I had to hold out against the urges to eat when they came outside of meal time, that random eating was terribly unsatisfying; I wasn't able to manage it and it was only getting worse. I didn't believe anymore that any diet was going to save me. I had to find a permane...

Sorry, but it doesn't matter whether people think a tan is sexy or not. Overexposure causes skin cancer; I saw it with my mom and now with my sister. Both of them got most of their exposure as teenagers. I don't know if it was unusual, but I distinctly remember babysitting a bunch of kids for a week...
