I'll be lucky if I make it to 15 years in the teachers' retirement system in California. I didn't get into the system until 1999, when I was 46 years old. Deb, so far, I didn't need a root canal. Thank goodness for x-rays to tell that the root was okay. The dentist did take off a little of the tooth and the one above because he said my bite was putting too much pressure on the tooth to allow the tissue to heal. I'm also finishing my antibiotic series....

Did okay, though I felt a little off today and also had a little bit of a weird lunch because I had a tooth filled unexpectedly and my mouth was still a bit numb when I decided not to wait anymore and have lunch. I wasn't very hungry for dinner, but went ahead, eating light. It always makes me feel ...

One teacher at work had the surgery and she is really glad she did. She lost quite a bit of weight even before the surgery so she was to some degree accepting how she would need to eat beforehand. I asked her why she didn't just skip the surgery since she was doing well eating to lose weight beforeh...

Why are you not pleased with your work assignment, if the kids are okay? Do you miss colleagues? I do Spec Ed work, too, but we have mostly mainstreamed kids, so I am in classrooms with 35-40 kids. Things just seem to get tougher every year, and there's not much room for what kids want for themselve...

I don't mind long notes at all. I love No S, and love supporting people in it. Okay, remember you're talking to someone who had serious problems with S days for nearly TWO YEARS! If I wanted to be upset, I could be even now because my S days still aren't what others might call tame, but I sense the ...

My first day off work, so didn't have it to shape my day. It went fine, though. I shopped this morning for a dress for a wedding I'm going to in New Orleans in May. Found a good one, I think, at Goodwill! I'll need to look for some kind of sheer drape, but I think I can find it. It's an evening wedd...

On another site, a team member got a lot of help from Martha Beck (4-day Win), but for very similar reasons as we do on No S. She uses 4 days (rather than the 5 day week) as the measure for behaviors she is trying to incorporate and they worked so well for her that she ended up going a year without ...

I've said before to similar posts that I have fallen off-nay, DIVED off the wagon and over the cliff to the creek below. I've discovered that, magically, if you get up and start walking, another, better wagon comes along! Before you know it, you're riding shotgun with Han Solo... Okay, that takes lo...

No wonder, since I doubt they can find that many people who can stick to the diet and exercise part. However, I read recently that one of the unforeseen effects of bariatric surgery is that those around the patient also tend to lose weight after the surgery because they adopt better eating habits. I...

All I remember Reinhard saying was that to the emotional eater, it seems like a good idea but that it's a very bad idea, and maybe a bit more. Well, what's new? (Actually, I just went an re-read the section and he does go into it a bit more, but along lines I think are questionable.) I LOVE the guy,...

I don't think the queasy feeling comes from not eating. I think it's because I ate such an unusually starch-and-sweet "diet" yesterday. I'm not used to eating all dense foods, esp. not sweet/ processed things. I think if I'd had a meal with some veggies, protein, the snacky things as my starch and m...

I lived in the Middle East in my early twenties and had an Iranian boyfriend (don't worry; much cooler guy than many Westerners) who had lived in India, so my tastes and cooking lean towards those flavors. In recent years, I was looking at a diet book called Cinch! in which the writer recommended me...

Thirty years ago when I was trying to bake "healthy," I took some cookies with me to the office and a colleague asked to try one. She wrinkled up her face and said, "These are horse cookies!" I LOVED that line. That is about what they were worth. I'm so glad the stuff I said about baking went over o...

I started the day with brownies. Not exactly what I had planned, but it happened. Later I had some shrimp, then later a few snacky foods at an event I went to. I waited to get hungry for dinner- never happened. In fact, I got the queasy feeling again, but this time, I didn't care. I'd been listening...

Speaking of new books, Reinhard, have you ever thought of pitching one on the lifestyle of No S, 14 minutes, and Urban Ranger? You know, if you weren't so dang happy leading an emotionally stable, normal life, you could have a lifestyle empire, and you'd be doing more of a service than WW and exerci...

Eating at night can have to do with childhood issues or even adult ones, but I have the thought that these things can be almost endless. I am almost constantly looking at my emotional issues in life. I've got a lot of them, I've come to see! Especially because I've discovered that my innate temperam...

I'm lucky enough not to need to bake. (No kids.) Sure, I used to like it but I decided long ago that it was too easy to buy baked goods rather than bake at home and be subject to the lure of batter, which was my cocaine. I used to buy cake mixes just to eat the batter. I've put my cooking energy int...

I suggest you let your body tell you if IF is an option after you have 90% or better N day compliance for a few months. At that point, it may be moot. If not, see if you don't sometimes lose your appetite for a couple of meals in a row periodically. It's happened to me spontaneous a few times in the...

If you stay still during those moments of urge to eat, you will be able to feel the peace underneath that is the presence that all contentment comes from. It's under the urges, the anxiety, etc. With it, we're always safe, no matter what is happening on the outside. This issue with food is one of th...
