You're not 'setting yourself up for defeat" by posting, Christine. You're tapping into a wealth of genuine support and empathy from a whole 'herd' of us who are on the same journey! There is no admission you can make and no emotion you can express that is not shared by many many others on this site...

Gain of .4 lbs...bummer. I stuck to the diet faithfully this week, and although I realize I can't expect to keep up with my previous significant losses, staying the same is much better than gaing....definitely a downer! Observations: 1. I am not following through on my glass of water before every me...

Thank you for your kind words, Rocks. Tomorrow would have been my parents 65th wedding anniversary. Am also closing in on the first year anniversary of Mom's death, so guess I'm feeling her presence more than usual these days. She was a wonderful mother and I was truly blessed to have her in my lif...

Dale, if you aren't really an emotional eater and you are not much of a sweet eater and you don't eat exceptionally large portions, I don't understand why you have a weight issue. I know you said sometimes you binge, but have you ever figured out what causes those binges? That might be the key that ...

Thank you all for your thoughts. Seems everyone has the same reservations about WLS but most of us know people who have had at least moderate success with it. Of course, most of us also know people who have been unsuccessful or have had complications as well.....one thing we do all agree on is that ...

I agree with all of you...slow and steady wins the race! I understand your logic completely, Dale. You mentioned you have heart disease and therefore don't want to risk surgery. My original thinking was that maybe I should have the surgery because of my health issues. Figured the longer I wait the m...

Good to hear you're back, Ryan :D Vacations can be really rough. It's like a whole different mindset when we're traveling...new places, new foods, new sights and sounds. And after all, isn't the food a large part of the experience?? My husband and I are planning a trip out west this summer and will ...

I totally get what you're saying, Janie. And I know you're right. If I had not dismissed NoS so quickly 2 years ago I would be thin and healthy right now. Frustrating and yet I'm really thankful to be back and on track. Interestingly enough, today is an S day and I kinna almost don't even want to ea...

Just finished my second full week of NoS...lost 3.5 pounds! yay! That being said, I am aware that my numbers will not always be this high and I'm losing a bit faster because I have more to lose than the average bear. However, I'm still going to enjoy the moment!! :P What I learned this week is that ...

I myself and doing my best to 'fatten the bellies' of the pharmaceutical companies, and I agree that doctors go way overboard in perscribing medications. One of my main goals in losing weight is to be able to cut back (dare I say eliminate altogether?) the medicatons I take each day. I also have hea...

Thanks for the quick replay, NoSnacker. I agree with you in that Dr Oz recommends alot of supplements. I just recently mentioned to my neighbor that if a person took everything he recommended they would have a mountain of pills to try and swallow several times a day! I don't expect that any pill is ...

I also worked in the public school system as an elementary guidance counselor. The structure of a set schedule (35 minutes for lunch and no time to snack in between) was a big help, and yet it was during those 20 years of work that I gained over 100 pounds! I would do great at school and then come h...

Dr. Oz's weight loss supplements
Has anyone had any experience with weight loss supplements? I am not speaking of weight loss pills, but the natural supplements, such as the ones Dr. Oz often mentions on his show. In the last month, he has talked about 7 Keto, Raspberry Ketones and Saffron Extract...all supposedly great for helping...

Thanks, Jean. You reminded me of another subject I wanted to bring up. How much of an issue is the 'sagging' problem for those who have lost a fair chunk of weight? I was involved in aqua therapy at one point and I remember the therapist mentioning in passing about one of her patients who lost alot ...

Thank you for the responses! I do agree that people who obsessively exercise or diet sometimes seem to lose their joy. As was stated in a previous post, we need to remember to 'keep the heart happy'. I don't think dieting is about appearances so much as it is about being healthy and feeling well eno...

Thanks, Solid, for encouraging me to look at this thing in a different light. I never really thought about the surgery being a Plan B, at least not in the sense you are. It isn't like I'm thinking "Oh what the heck, I'll try this No S thing for a couple weeks and if it doesn't work I can always have...

Thanks to both Mander and Laura for your comments. I see both sides, I really do, which is why I'm still battling with this indecision. For now I'm going strictly NoS, but if the health issues do not improve I may well decide on the surgery. I'm so happy for you, Laura. It's wonderful that your heal...

S Day Hangover....the morning after....
Had a ridiculous S Day yesterday! Guess I didn't break any rules, but for Heaven sakes...a little self control would have been a good idea! So today I'm paying the piper: bloated, irritable, lethargic....storing it all away in my memory for next weekend so I'm not as tempted to go off the deep end!

Carpediem's Weekly Reality Check...
Okay, I started back with NoS on April 7 and decided I will post my progress every Monday morning. The goal here is to keep things as simple a possible, so for now only have a couple hard and fast rules: 1. Drink water before every meal. I dont drink enough water and this will be a way of seeing tha...

Glad you decided to share with other NoSers. I think what you had to say was important for others to hear as well. I remember you telling me 2 years ago that you had the surgery, in part, because of health issues and the need to lose weight quickly. Did the health issues improve? My biggest concerns...

Well just finishing up on my first week of NoS and am happy to say I've lost 3 pounds! That's even including a 'special occasion day' (daughter's birthday) tossed in the middle. At first I was going to forego the cake and ice cream experience as I was pretty motivated to stick to NoS, but decided I ...

What a great idea! I've just come back to NoS after a 2 year hiatus and am determined to give this thing my all. Thank you all so much for your input! Very good advice and always good to hear that I'm not alone in this battle! I know surgery isnt for everyone, and I also know it's not always successful. I can't decide what to do! I am 59, approximately 120 pounds overweight, with several weight-related health issues: hypertension, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea and arthritic knees. As many others before me, I have tried numerous diets and exercise plans, with no luck. I would not call myself a compul...
