Maybe it just sounds too simple? That could be part of it. No counting calories, carbs, fat grams, or points. No weighing or measuring. No complicated formulas. No special products or drinks. No elimination of certain foods or food groups. No shopping for special foods. No need to spend extra money...

Here's an interesting question: why do traditionally male jobs (like construction) have very strictly observed meal breaks, while female jobs like yours don't? Unions? Men being more pushy, and sticking up for themselves? Women being afraid to make a fuss? Women making less, probably, especially if...

It makes me wonder if our society didn't start gaining weight when we started listening to 'expert' advice. That's part of Michael Pollen's take on it. I think the biggest reason diets fail is that they don't work for you; you work for them. Find a way to eat that will work for you and enable you to meet your goals. “Diets are like trying to sell everyone the same style and size shoe. If this way of eating is forced and not really you, you’ll ...

I unintentionally started No-S with a modification. I missed the one plate rule and for the first year I followed No-S ate one serving of whatever was being served. If my meal was on more than one plate -- well, so be it. It worked. By the time I realized there was a one plate rule, I couldn't see a...

This is the first thing I thought of when I read that: Compared with the French, we're much more likely to choose foods for reasons of health, and yet the French, more apt to choose on the basis of pleasure, are the healthier (and thinner) people. How can this possibly be? Rozin suggests that our pr...

It can be done

Great article from Salon: I Thought I'd Always be Fat His way may not be exactly right for all of us, but it can be done -- no matter how much you have to lose. More and more I'm noticing that the "experts" are saying weight loss comes down to two things: 1. Eat less. 2. Move more. It's that simple....
