I probably should have posted this here: I think we forget how much a little exercise adds up over time. I saw this on the Today Show yesterday. I'm against the use of low-fat foods, but it worked for this lady. We're so inactive compared to 30+ years ago. It's not been that long ago that we had to ...

My blood draws are now annual and I still get a little anxious before each one. However, my cholesterol has continued to drop a little each year. Last year it was 126. My motto for how and what I eat is "mostly homemade" -- which means that I aim for 70% (or more) of what I eat to be made from real,...

Over 43 -- aside from the eggs, I have no idea what you're eating. But let me tell you my story. By the way, I'm not overly fond of oatmeal, either, and I think the steel cut is even worse than good old rolled oats. My cholesterol has only been elevated once in my life; it was 239. It was about 5 ye...

Maybe not disrespecting the food -- but the cook and the effort put into preparing a meal. Just a thought that went through my mind as I read this. A totally unrelated thought. My former father-in-law died suddenly yesterday. One thing he did that I always thought was special was at the end of ever...

I try not to lecture him about it (and I think I do a good job). I know he's an adult and is free to make his own choices, sometimes it's just frustrating. I see the snacking before a meal as sort of disrespecting the food that's about to be served, and he laughs at that--how can you "disrespect" f...

I find I do this a lot, too, especially after spending 45 minutes or an hour cooking dinner and am super, super hungry. It's kind of interesting that our taste for something can change depending on how empty our stomachs are. I'm not sure that hunger is the only thing at play. If you're not snackin...

We have an older cat who has always been a picky eater with a sensitive tummy. I don't remember how this started, but within the last year we discovered that she loves scrambled eggs -- and they don't upset her tummy. Every morning she gets an egg scrambled in butter with milk or cream (even heavy ...

I use an egg poacher in the microwave because I've never been able to do it the traditional dropping eggs in water way ( ive tried everything too!). Only thing is it says on the instructions im supposed to pierce the yolks before microwaving them ( presumably to stop them exploding) but this obviou...

I've got to say that what Croaker said about the beer drinking made me wince, too, and that I also agree with NoelFigart and oliviamanda. I'm also speaking from experience -- the experience of a woman who was married to a man who felt like that about his beer drinking. Like NoelFigart, I don't wish ...

Okay...I'm 61 and also 5'3". I have come to realize that no matter what I do, I'm never going to see 120-125 again. 135 is about as low as I can get. I eat very similar to the way you do. I'm not much of a breakfast eater -- never have been -- but if I do have breakfast it's toast and fruit or a hom...

I read your initial post and if you'd asked about snacking every night, my response to your poll and what I wrote would have been different. But snacking at night on S days -- go for it. By the way, most of us who have followed No-S for a while don't believe that S days are for "pigging out." They a...
