There seems to be a tendency around here to prefer weight-loss advice that's over a thousand years old -- Reinhard often refers to the Bible/Torah, and now you're citing Aristotle (a relative newcomer, but still pretty old). :) Of course, you only have to go back half a century to find North Americ...

Apparently Mark Bittman's had a similar thought: You can also embrace hunger, strange as that may sound, just as you might embrace the delicious anticipation of a nap, or sexual craving. Your hunger will, after all, be satisfied. Why not wait an hour? (You're not dying, after all!) You might also st...

By the way, in terms of the "rules" -- everything is on the home page. While there's plenty of other content in the book, there's no more "rules" than appear on the home page.

Okay...deep breath...relax. This is not a quick weight loss program. It's going to be slow going, especially when you have so little to lose. Concentrate first on the habits. Don't beat yourself up for slip-ups. The big question isn't why you slip up, but why you expect NOT to slip up. You know that...

Hi, Someone told me about this No S Diet ("diet") many months ago and I brushed them off, but it stuck with me, back in the recesses of my brain somewhere. A few days ago, I dusted off the cobwebs and decided to check it out. Yesterday, I started the "program" (I use quotations because it's not rea...

I think the reasoning might be different for people undergoing chemo -- or who have any condition where the appetite is diminished. Staring at a big plate of food tends to decrease the appetite more; smaller plates of food served more frequently tend not to diminish the appetite.

My S days vary widely. Some days I'm a glutton, some include a treat here and there and/or some snacking, and some look like N days (that's usually not a plan, just the way it happens). While I do tend to bake something to be enjoyed on the weekends, I don't plan S days and I don't worry about them,...

I don't think a lot of people know how to be satisfied with "just enough" or just doing their best. It's as if there's a need to be super-perfect and it's especially apparent in diet/exercise.

It's something I don't understand at all.

Re: fat tax?

Well, they subsidize tobacco farme...
