I do have to laugh that Raisin Bran seems to have by far the most sugar in it, and if I were asked to stand in the cereal aisle and sort cereals by healthfulness - - I am sure I'd have put it in the healthy pile. I mean it has raisins and BRAN - - how bad could it be? Worse than Captain Crunch appa...

I combine it with cooking from scratch as much as possible, avoiding processed or diet foods, half-assed locavore, and eating things that taste good. Oh, and I make it a point to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables in my three meals. Me, too. I think any way of eating that doesn't encourage s...

It's not no sugar, it's no sweets. If sugar is one of the first 3-5 ingredients, it's more sweet than anything else. However manufacturer's are great at adding small amounts of various sweeteners. Because the quantities of each are low, they're at the end of the ingredients list, but you're still ge...

good advice guys...you are right, it's going to take some time... I guess the reason I thought I would have lost more is because is because I didn't have really any sweets the whole 10 days, and many days I went to bed with hunger pangs.... If you're having chest pain that scares you, the time to be checked out is NOW , not in a few weeks. As for the meal plans -- sounds good, just make sure you eat enough at meals to carry you through to the next meal. For as long as I can remember, I've had random days when I'm hungrier than normal. I wake up ready for food (which is extremely unusual for me) and I stay ready for food most of the day. I've never been able to associate this with anything else -- like a change in the weather.

I've done this for some time, and find it a useful rule-of-thumb. Of course, it needs intelligent modification with combo dishes, but the principle works well, and is relatively easy. I also strive for "two different fruits/veg" per meal, but don't have an authority to back me up on that one. :) Fo...

I also try to eat meat only once a day. My lunch is pretty much consistently soup or vegetable stews. I LOVE soup (I think it should be food group!) and there's such a huge variety, it's not difficult to have soup nearly every day.

paulawylma came up with a great list of vegetarian options!

Oddly enough, TV time is the time I'm least likely to snack. If I'm going to be tempted to snack, it's usually between breakfast and lunch, sometimes between lunch and dinner. However, a good book or needlework can so absorb me that I forget about eating -- sometimes even meals!
