I will be taking all 3 days as S days. Saturday will be my usual trip to the farmer's market and breakfast out. Sunday I'm not sure about -- yet. Monday -- the usual summer holiday meal. My "treat" is going to be -- are you ready for this? -- S'Mores. I've been craving them for about 6 weeks. Haven'...

Restricting Variety

In Mindless Eating Wansink mentions how the less variety we have, the less we eat. In another post today: Contrary to popular opinion we are well-served by limits! Blueskighs I'm currently reading The Blue Zone: Lessons for Living Longer from the People Who've Lived the Longest by Dan Buettner. He's...

I think part of our speed eating or rushing through meals is due to the way we view not just the meals, but life in general. For many others, meal time is a time to relax and socialize with family and friends. For many of us it's something else on the "to do" list, to be completed quickly so we can ...

It's not the carbs, it's the calories, i.e. not the KIND of gas you are putting in the car, but the AMOUNT of gas. If you take in more food than you burn, you gain weight. [/color] Hi, I was on a fairly strict low carb diet for 1.5 years. I ate tons of food. Yet, I lost about 105 pounds. I was actu...

I'm generally not a speed-eater. I'll have to say that there's something to the 20 minute rule. It helps to talk with family/friends during dinner. Although, I'm frequently alone and find that sitting at the table and reading something does it, too. Last night I went to a favorite little restaurant ...

Ok so here's my problem... I haven't been very consistent with NoS lately, but my concern is that since I only have 3 meals per day, I like to make them nice and balanced, but I always end up too full and think it myself "it'd be so much easier if I could just save the rest of this for a snack arou...
