There seems a direct application to No-S... by limiting food to mealtimes, we are able to "distract" ourselves from food the rest of the time, just as those kids did with the marshmallows. No-S structure provides the frame that distances us from the temptation. I know I used to have this CONSTANT me...

My kids are allowed to have healthy snacks at school, including fruit roll-ups. They don't like that I won't buy fruit roll-ups except on special occassions. I've told them the only thing healthy about fruit roll-ups is the word fruit in the name! Kathleen The year I gave fruit rollups to my Son as...

My experience is that I can "train" my body to expect to eat at different times. But I have to pay attention. If I eat late at night, I'm not hungry in the morning. But that boomerangs, and I am hungry again late, which means... rinse, repeat. If I don't eat late in the evening, it breaks the cycle ...

Hi Doudou, LALoser and Debs and Thalia and others have already given you good advice. It's very normal for No-S to take longer than you expect, because it's NOT an extreme method. (My own experience has been that extreme methods - WW for me - can work to lose weight, but are hard to maintain on. One...

You've captured a LOT in those ten! I love #3, 4, 7, and 9, If there were a second set (the lost tablet), I'd add something about persistance/resiliance. For me, one of the biggest lessons of No-S has been that I can have a failure as an isolated mini-event, one that does NOT cause me to fail overal...

I am pleased to report that a glass of milk and a later glass of wine got me through the long evening. Oddly, I wasn't really hungry - it was just "time to eat." And I wanted to... but I knew in my heart of hearts that if I did, it would lead to a binge. Glad I didn't - once I was past normal dinner...

Of course the size of a person affects results. So does activity level, age, gender, etc. But that doesn't mean that there won't BE results for all of us. :) My eight-year-old son plays soccer, and was full of "they had an advantage!" talk after losing a game. My husband told him "everybody has adva...

Another tip... if there's a restaurant you go to a lot for some reason (work lunches or such), take the time to look up their nutrition information and figure out a few decent meals. What a very funny thread this is... it started out as "strict No-S" and wandered off into "micro-bites" (which, while they may work for some, are quite definitely a mod) and then into snacking at night, which is again not "strict No-S" (no matter what you eat, as counter-intuitive as that seems).......
