Many years ago, I was vegan for a couple of years, and my biggest memory from that time was that I felt like I had to eat constantly, all day long. I joked about it a lot at the time, but in hindsight, that kind of sucked. (Note - I know that WFPB is not vegan - I was just giving an example of a tim...

It never ceases to amaze me when I sit down for a great dinner, after thinking I was "so" hungry, and realize that I just need a normal amount of delicious food and the hunger is a distant memory that I wonder if I actually felt the hunger so strongly or if I only imagined it.

Re: Octavia is finally checking in!

I super support your idea to plan your meals. I plan all our dinners for the week (it doesn't always go according to plan but is still wonderfully helpful to staying on track with NoS). Every morning I plan my meals for the day (well, I guess I don't really eat breakfast on N Days and my lunch is al...

Re: automated eating tracker

Thank you Octavia for your encouraging post. About the forgetting to pick up the child (luckily he is a 13-year old and has a cell phone, so it could have been far more horrifying), and also your comments relating to the "use disorder", as we shall call it. :-) I'm intrigued by the "glimpsing" techn...

Re: Octavia is finally checking in!

As I read your post, I kept thinking how your struggle with food is similar to my struggle with alcohol. I'm starting to think that many people on NoS (or any diet, for that matter) really do have food addictions. For some (amazingingly lucky) reason, I do not have that struggle. Don't get me wrong,...

Re: April's Diary of New Beginnings

At the beginning everyone feels that panic about needing to load up the plate so they don't starve between meals (if they've been a big snacker, that is, which most of us were). Load up your plates and don't worry about what's on the plate yet. That's a different habit, a different thing. You don't ...

I love your mini-fail-run. Last fall when HappyHerder was recovering from his illness, I started my walk/jog idea - just to totally go at his pace. And I've got to say, I love that form of exercise. It is so natural for the body, whereas running without stopping seems kind of stressful for me. :mrgr...

Hi Chanda - You know how some people need a LOT of variety in their diet? They enjoy experimenting with cooking and buying new ingredients?
