Hopefully you do something nice for yourself again soon.
I know how catching up with a friend can feel more like a chore than a treat. I have to be in the right mood for that. :)

I do think the crunchier food idea is intriguing, but I'd still have to advise that you don't overthink the S days yet. Like Sonya said, plan treats that you LOVE for your S days. Don't eat your "second favorite" treats..... That sounds way too much like forbidden foods diets. Try to put all this gl...

This is definitely one of those impossible situations. If it makes you feel better, Reinhard says that is the cause of most of his fails.... Social pressure, especially from relatives. :)

It's neat how there can be a natural progression to food changes over time, MJ.
Also I consider not checking your (ex)friend's page as "cutting out the junk", too! :)

I definitely think finding a rhythm to which days are consistently S days is important. I think it's important mentally (to make it habitual) and also I think our bodies grow used to the pattern, as well.

jw and chani, interesting about the weight gain connection. Jw, have you read Wheat Belly? That was my first exposure to the idea that gluten problems can lead to weight gain (rather than, as you pointed out, the traditional idea that all celiacs are underweight).

excellent news about the heartburn going away! That is the kind of self-rewarding benefit of NoS that helps keep us at the habit even when the scale is immediately doing what we'd like it to. :)

Congrats on your journey, NoSnacker!

I love this idea, Oolala!
I have found that by limiting my shopping to one day, I am making actual effective lists (!) to make sure I don't buy too much extra. But your idea is even more challenging, and I like the sound of it.
