I think I missed what is your specific behavior goal? Is it fasting or not overeating? I know that ultimately you want both but what is the focus this month? For me it works best to focus on one tiny thing at a time and keep adding behaviors as I gain success. I also tend to start with the easer ste...

Overeating just isn't worth it. Now this is as true a statement as I've ever seen. I like the idea of benign neglect for a weight loss goal! So do I. Just do the work and let the scale fall where it may. I've been thinking a lot lately about the importance of focusing on behavior and don't worry ab...

For now I'm gonna park the PB issue. I'm going to drop the alcohol though (not completely, but cut back as described). I definitely like the idea of alcohol better than how I actually feel during and after having it, if that makes any sense. Totally makes sense to me. I feel like I've been struggli...

Weigh in on Wednesday. Instead of adding walking, I believe my "fitness" focus in November will be addressing my plantar faciitis. Umm, oh yes you will!! How in the world have you been walking? I spend literally hours upon hours trying on shoes to find those that have enough support and I b...

Ugh!! Miserable, cold, rainy weather around this neck of the woods. It's going to be hard to motivate myself to run. The weekend has been fun. Out to a local pub for a beer and a bite. (Ended up distinctly overstuffed - I really have to work out a plan for that) Then the next day went to a 5k (to wa...

Hi Merry, I was reading your post of Oct 13th and this idea came to mind.

It's about a professional bicycle team but I think the idea applies to non-athletes as well.

Hope you're doing well

Gotta say, it tasted a lot better when I was 5, haha.

Going to be honest. Didn't even like it when I was 5. It was always the candy I'd trade in a heartbeat. Enjoy!

I have been given a box of hand crafted chocolates selected individually, I am going to try and have one or two at the weekends and make them last! I need to hide them from my boys!! Hi Maggie, I'm glad you made it back to us. You can do this, it's just that it doesn't come to us in one fell swoop. It takes a lot of time and and effort. Most of us have had many false starts and that's ok. It's all part of the learning curve. So, today you just take it one hour at a time. If you ...

How can we live better?

Found this guy today: https://jamesclear.com/ Some of what he said resonated with me and thought someone else might find it beneficial. I bolded the most significant part to me. I don't know if it helps but the tact I've taken is to say nothing until the subject of diet/eating/health comes up then I say some version of, "What I do is. . . For now I'm just trying to observe the weekend eating and not make a judgement on what to do about it.
The "mark it and move on" mentality is by far the best for handling these sorts of events. No point in beating yourself up after the fact.

Have a great day,

Funny how we can feel so "solid" for a long time then something comes along (or seemingly nothing) and we're back on shakey ground. I've heard recovering alcoholics talk about this. Apparently, you're never free from the possibility the old urges will resurface it's just that the longer you can resi...
