I think a vegan diet is great, unless one is eating a lot if highly processed foods (fake mayonnaise, phony cheese, that sort of thing). I'm a long time ovo-lacto vegetarian, myself. There was a study out this week saying that if the world population kept growing at its current pace, we'd have to DO...

I really don't think you have to "re-set the clock" every time you have a failure. I feel this gives too much negative power to failures, and undermines your many successes. If you had 99% success, but re-set after 1% failure, you wouldn't be focusing on the 99%, would you? No. The failure would hav...

It's also worth mentioning that I've had SERIOUS problems with newly-developed food allergies. Suddenly, I can't eat anything in the nightshade family (no tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplants or tomatillos). This has been a HUGE pain in the butt. I pretty much can't eat at restaurants. My partner ...

I seems like you're agonizing about an awfully insignificant amount of weight. While good habits *are* really important, do those three pounds really matter? They're just numbers, and as we all agree, those numbers move around a lot in the course of a day. Forgive me if I'm stepping out of line with...

My partner is paralyzed and I'm the sole bread winner. I totally know what you mean by comfort food. Maybe you need to be a little less hard in yourself? Maybe you should reframe the language you're using? What if you say "unplanned snacking" instead of "binging?". Now, I know NOTHING about binge ea...

I haven't weighed myself since starting no-s. I don't own a scale, and don't plan to buy one. I've been a pretty healthy eater for years. I'm a vegetarian, and somewhere along the line became interested in phasing out highly processed foods. I started no-s because I'd noticed that I'd developed some...

Thursday Breakfast -- latte, bread and butter Elevenses -- iced coffe, a slice of bread Lunch -- leftover salad, a tangerine Dinner -- it was my beekeeping club's annual party. Because of my crazy food allergies, I ate very strangely. And I had a slim slice of fruit torte, and some rosemary mead. It...

Limiting fruit helps fight off binge eating?! Wow.

This is why the one-size-fits-all diet just doesn't work. Fruit is my friend, not something I have to guard against. We're all do different, which is a good thing, but complicated.
