Lots of good replies and I don't know how much I can add but I can speak from the standpoint of someone who has sabatoged herself on a lot of diet plans through the years and who is determined to make this one work despite many failed attempts. Reinhard stated it very well recently on another thread...

Wosnes, you are one smart cookie! I enjoy many of your posts but I think none so much as this one. I think there is a group of at least 5 of us who have some real issues with self image, perfectionism and fear of failure. Over and over again, we support each other through rough times but when we hit...

Wow, what a good conversation this is! I loved reading it and related to a lot of it. As a recovering perfectionist myself (When I fail as a parent, for at least a day, all I can remember are all my failures as a parent. When I fail at work, I think everyone now sees me as a total failure. I have ve...

I love this post. I have learned a lot from it and I sincerely thank everyone who wrote on it. I've learned I can have cheetos with lunch or supper sometimes if it is part of lunch or supper. That demystifies them for me a bit. (Gettnbusy, that means if you bought the child's size burger and fries, ...

First off, KCCC, I really have been enjoying the comments you have been contributing to these boards and my threads in particular. They are insightful and well written. Thanks. I thought about this for a while and there are several schools of thought here. Unfortunately, if it has calories, so I am inclined to think it is a treat. But sugar and cream in coffee is OK so that begs the issue again. Hard call but I would vote, treat because milk, sugar and cocoa all have calor...

Thanks Hexagon and Wosnes. Wonderful thoughts. I know what you mean about "treats" making us feel icky. When I overindulge on weekends, I feel lousy. I have heartburn and have trouble sleeping. I also feel heavy and sluggish. One would think that would be enough reason to eliminate them. I know I ju...

Well the return to the site took longer than I thought!!! I have gained almost all of my lost weight back and there are a number of reasons (not excuses) this happened. 1) Husband was having cancer health issues and there were tests and long waits involved. Way to be proactive on the diabetes thing. Much easier to avoid than control after you have it. I like your phrasing of sloppy eating, tasting etc. I do that occasionally too. I always have a logical excuse for it but I know it's technically funny stuff. Good luck and I think you'll like it here.
