The other thing that seems obvious to us NoS-ers is that 240 calories doesn't need to be all *that* steep: most people probably eat at least that much in the form of snacks every day. So stop doing that. :) http://www.postsmile.com/img/emotions/183.gif This is certainly true for men, and for many l...

I agree (..with KCCC...) that on NoS we have no diet police to answer to. We are free to declare any food we want OK and make up our own tweaks. Our results will speak for themselves. Re: Glad I'm not alone!

And I'm pleased to report my weight seems to have dropped (a little fraction) after literally a few days of checking in, being honest and getting on with it after being in a plateau since I started Nos :) so it appears I have begun to head in the right direction. Congratulations, nosnos http://www....

Re: Reading about, diets, weightloss and nutrition

A little thing I have noticed is that when I have read a lot about, diet, weightloss and nutrition. I think I feel the same 'piousness' as if I have actually applied this knowledge. Anybody else find they are more leanient on themselves when they have read a lot of food, body diet stuff, or is it j...

Good Thread here. I very much agree with all of your posts. Today I took my son to lunch at Applebees. Their menu had calorie counts listed by each selection. They have added six or seven lower-calorie choices, 350-550, but except for those, almost every plate of food totalled between 1200 to 1800 ...

I don't think fasting works for everyone. .. some people find that they are so hungry the day afterwards that they eat more that day to compensate for the fast. I suspect that, for people like this, fasting is simply not a helpful tool. I've talked to lots of people about fasting and I've never run...

Re: Question about calories

No S ...you don't have to count calories, but I have continued to use sparkpeople.com to track my food and exercise since I began No S, more because I like to keep track of what I eat than to be tyrannical about my calorie intake. My meals tend to be about 400 calories each, so I eat 4 a day instea...

You can tweak it as you go along, make improvements that work for you.

The No S Diet is a good one.
However, just about any Diet works, if it is followed.,

I think you're right about my First Failure. I think, though, that I'm not going to count eating because I'm so hungry that I have the shakes as a failure. To not listen to my own health would be absurd. Of course I have to be wise about what I choose to do in those situations. I know my body well ...

Also, like many of you, I would probably qualify for a Masters in Nutrition if all of my readings and research were taken into account. I'm about 25 to 30 pounds overweight-depending on who you ask. I have finally reached a point in my life where I have realized/accepted that I don't need or want t...

Re: Orthdoxy -- when the rules stop making sense to me

I've been grappling with this for a couple of days, and I can't shake the sense that I should walk away from No S. Life was really challenging, and rather chaotic. Initially I liked the structure of No S, but two days ago I ran into a situation where I thought the rules violated common sense. ...so...
