No S is about building structure and new habits through repeated conditioning. Eating eggs is not going to cause me to fail at anything. Eating stuff I like (chocolate) obviously didn't work, and that's how I got into this mess.

So... what ELSE could you eat that would satisfy whatever criteria you have? (I think I'm seeing ease-of-access, and perhaps protein... but only you can define what matters. I'm just advocating that "not detestable" is an important criteria too.) Everything I "like" is too easy to go overboard with...

I think there are different stages of keeping sweets in the house. The first stage, which I'm in now, is the beginning of No S when you are still learning how to cope. The trauma of not having sweets during the week is too great to trust yourself to keep them in the house. The second stage, you have...

Trust me, I'd much rather be eating a chocolate chip scone, but No S is structure, and eggs are part of my structure, even though I hate them. Things that I like more than eggs, like cereal and fruit, are not easy to fill up on, or are too easy to over-do it on. So I typically combine cereal and/or ...

When 6-mealers are shocked about putting on the weight, I don't think they are being truly honest with themselves about how big those mini-meals are. 100-200 calories is hardly any amount of food at all, certainly not a satisfying amount. It's easy to think you are doing a mini-meal when in actualit...

I hope the "white knuckling" doesn't last for TOO long! It's so hard to be strict on yourself, even limiting "nibbling." But something that small can really cause you to go overboard. It's best to try and keep it in check until it becomes a habit.

http://nutritiondiva.quickanddirtytips.com/metabolism-myths.aspx Here's a great podcast on "Metabolism Myths" from a registered dietician. I'm sick of hearing other registered dieticians, and "personal trainers", telling people to "keep their metabolism going" by grazing all day. This has completely...

Leafy's Misery and Euphoria

Continued from this thread. I made it to the weekend with only eating 6 cookies this week (huge improvement.) I was ready to really live it up on my first S days. You see, previously, I would restrict my other meals just to save room for the sweets. But this time I decided to eat full junk food meal...

The Nutrition Diva has a great podcast about "Metabolism myths":

Plus many other great ones on her site. She seems like someone who really knows their stuff and goes about it in a sensible way.

For me, I am impatient not for weight loss, but to rid myself of food obsession. One week in, and the day where I don't obsess can't come fast enough. It does help to think of where you'd be 2 years from now if you hadn't found No S. It's kind of like a soul mate relationship.

After reading your post, I took a good look at myself today. I'm one of these skinny 'fat' people, who look quite slim at a glance and with the right clothes but I'm carrying quite a lot of central weight at the moment. I decided that even if superficially I seem slim and my BMI is within normal ra...

That's exactly the problem - we are completely UNprejudiced as a society against fat people, so much so that nobody wants to confront anyone that what they are doing is unhealthy. But how do you tell someone that what they are doing is unhealthy, without hurting their feelings? You can't. Either way...

When I was in Wal-Mart this weekend, my first reaction was to be disgusted with all the fat people who were in there. Then I felt bad because I don't know each person's individual story, just like I have a story. But we really have become too desensitized to fatness, and I think that our society is ...

I love that term - procrastinEATing! I just completed a week of No S, and I'm so bored I don't know what to do with myself. To Noel, I'm not trying to scoff at therapy, but I really don't think that's what I need. "Snack diet doesn't help weight loss"

http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/459643 This article is pretty interesting. It claims that One group ate three times a day, while the other added in three extra snacks to try to keep metabolism boosted throughout the day and speed up fat-burning. But results showed no difference in changes in weigh...

Misery and Euphoria after 4 days

I'm 29 and throughout the past decade or so I've followed all kinds of “intuitive†plans - a modified Weigh Down approach (without the praying), read most of Geneen Roth, Overcoming Overeating and others, all without success and a continued food obsession. I have almost always been able to contro...
