I don't know, I tend not to freak out too much about cholesterol. I think it's one of those things that is associated with things that matter, without being a very good measure in itself. I don't mean you should be cavalier about triglycerides of 400, but I would not change an otherwise healthy and ...

Not sure what to do about that. 7/ juice and seltzer 9/ yogurt, granola, chopped apple 12:15/butter chicken, rice, pourri, diet soda (craving sweet) 4/cocoa 6/pancake and a half, ome...

Rawcookie, I'm like you. I don't think of myself as a binge eater. I've had weight issues all of my adult life but after early stints with dieting, I've spent the last 20 years more focused on lifestyle solutions, having made up my mind from extensive reading that harsh restriction is not the greate...

Just read your gum story. LOL.

I want to congratulate you on the low weight but I am conflicted, as I know we place more emphasis on habit and moderation than we do on scale weights. But I'm always happy when the scale drops LOL and I'm happy for you.

Linda, all encouragement welcome! DD has been in preprofessional ballet for years, got a serious injury outside of ballet, and has not been able to work at anywhere near the same level. I figured she and major ballet were going to part at some point. But this was a hard way to have it happen. She do...

Oolala: Interesting stuff. I'll look for more reading on the subject. I meant to say earlier, but was typing on my phone: I am sorry you have afternoon discontentment! I hope it is no more than is normal-human stuff. I just read Maude, a fictionalized biography of the author's grandmother born in 18...

Linda, I am picturing the fat horse and the short legs and getting a giggle out of that. We ended up hiring a friend to do some ballet driving for me. My DH has a visual impairment that prevents driving (come on, self driving cars!) Sounds like some good observe-and-correct type assessment going on....

TexArk, I wish you a quick and easy sale. Easier when you're out of the house. I remember trying to sell our last house when we had all three kids at home, the youngest five. Trying to keep things perfect was not very pleasant. I want to stay in two stories myself. Although I have to remind myself t...

I added a little dark chocolate after dinner as well. I think it helps me stop when I know I have that to finish off. My hardest time is around 4 pm when I start to get ready to eat but dinner isn't until 6 or 6:30. I do have a coffee with milk and sugar or a juice and seltzer, which helps. I agree ...

@ 3squaremeals, I have mixed results with oatmeal too. If I chop an apple into it and add some almonds it seems to last longer. @oolala, I wonder if the caloric restriction has something to do with restriction of animal protein/growth hormone. Although I could see it being related to not being overn...

Linda, this was so helpful for me. I did need to hear this. Weight loss is one thing, but feeling good mentally and physically matters more to me. Sleep is a mystery now that I have arrived in midlife. I used to hit the sack tired, sleep soundly, and wake up refreshed.
