Soup is good. Experiments have found that it takes the stomach longer to digest ingredients which have been made into a blended soup, than it does to digest the same ingredients unblended. A thick soup can be surprisingly filling for the amount of calories.

Snacking addiction

Initially having crisps or tortilla chips as part of a meal worked for me. Over time I have come to want other foods more, so the crisps just gradually got displaced by more satisfying food. Buying small, individual serving packs of crisps, rather than the large bags, may help as well. Good luck wit...

Thoughts on conferences, travel, etc.

How do you deal with dessert buffets at parties? There are lots of great ideas here. Brian Wansink's excellent book Mindless eating has some recommendations about how to avoid overeating at buffets. These include: Keep at a distance from the food. Put only two items at a time on your plate. Fill up...

As others have said, those are an awful lot of rules, and you have a tremendous amount to deal with, so it's not surprising that it's been hard.

One thought that might help is that once your baby is a toddler, you will get masses of exercise!

I guess part of what I like about No-S is that unlike WW where someone who needs to lose 15 lbs. might do it in a matter of weeks but someone who needs to lose 150 lbs. is stuck doing it for months on end, everyone here does it the same amount of time: Monday to Friday, the rest of your life. That'...

Huge Plates

When I'm faced with a huge plate of food at a resteraunt, I try to save half, or ask for a take-out container before I even start eating. One time the waitress refused...and I ate it all. I hated her  I often think, when eating out, that I should have brought a plastic tub with me for "leftove...

"Old-Fashioned" vs. "Quick Oats"

Like MysteryLover, I prefer the chewy old-fashioned oats. I like them with cooked with milk, and I stir in a spoonful of maple syrup after cooking and slice a banana on top. Yum.

Fear of losing

I know just what you mean, JoyceC. Losing weight fast can be scary. I am losing weight at a more moderate rate through NoS, and I have found that I have time to get used to being the size I am as I progress. Also, as you say, I am replacing clothes with smaller ones as the old garments wear out. Goo...

This is harder than I thought

You're doing really well, Sara, and as everyone says it really does get easier. One thing which may help with the wheat thins is not to have them in sight, or within reach. It might be easier if you don't have them in the office at all. You could package up some individual servings to have as part o...
