When I was fasting 2 days a week alone, I didn't lose any weight because I made up for lost calories. When I combined it with No S, the weight started coming off.

"oolala53" So, did the article actually say how to decide it for yourself? Yes, Oolala, she did: "You're an abstainer if: 1. You have trouble stopping yourself from doing something (eating, drinking, etc.) once you've gotten started. 2. You aren't tempted by things once you've decided they're totally...

Good Housekeeping magazine, June issue, had an short but interesting article by Gretchen Rubin, entitled, "When to Say 'Never'." Subtitle is, "Sometimes not giving yourself a choice is the best choice of all." She goes on to speak about diet "Abstainers", who like herself, have a weakness for partic...

Every now and then I have a day like this. It causes Peggy Lee's song to go though my head, "Is that all there is?" Like oolala, I've made a list of all the health/sanity/vanity reasons of sticking to No S. And another list of all the negatives of reverting back to out-of control eating or another loser diet. I particularly studied it in the beginning when I was tempted to eat out of control on Normal days.

I had a lot of trouble with heartburn for several years, probably from aging and grazing all day. It disappeared when I started No S. Vanilla No S. About 2 weeks in, no heartburn at all - even with wild weekends. Whenever I get discouraged about continuing on, I think about that wretched heartburn.
