Day 14 (Tuesday) - Success

Getting adjusted to eating like this (again - I'm a repeat offender) is difficult. I've cut my basal insulin by about 15% and my blood glucose is still low frequently. I forgot how much of a difference eating moderately makes.

Day 12 (Monday) - Success

I should explain that I am a Type I diabetic. My blood glucose, a couple of times a day, gets clinically low. This happens most after exercise. When it does, I treat it, with about 15 grams of dextrose (sugar). I do not count this as a failure.

Well, as of December 1, I'm down a good 10 pounds since September 15 (maybe more: I think I'm under-stating my September 15 weight).

Given that Thanksgiving was in there - and I'm not getting enough exercise - I feel pretty good about 10 pounds in 13 weeks or so.

When the meal is too small, it is very difficult. But evening time is a particularly tough time. I almost never snack after evening meals, S day or not. I have a savory food problem, too. Cheese and crackers are heaven to me, particularly with a hoppy beer. Snacks are often as caloric as full meals. In the States, the plainest ice cream is vanilla flavored. So, vanilla has come to mean plain, or unadorned. A "vanilla" No-S day is a standard day - no modifications: a day in strict accordance with the rules.
