There are lots of different approaches. I incorporate fruit, fresh or dried, into meals, which provides a sweet flavour in a healthy way. Fruit is also satisfying. That sounds great, but don't put pressure on yourself. We know that you're busy with family and work. If you made some kind of lettercal or colourcal, I'd buy that too. Something to track types of exercise: either colours for different activities, or letters (W for walk, C for cycle, S for swim etc)...
