I echo Autos points re reading. I worried about my son's ability when he first started learning to read, he soon caught up and started to devour books.

He loves reading still at 26. Keep it fun not a chore. :)

Great post, much the same for me except I did join to lose weight and whilst I'm happy where I am I could do with losing more.

I know how to tweak it to do that and will continue to do that when I'm ready.

Love the chicken story Octavia and eggs in a hat sound great.

I always give something the ouch test if I'm not sure it's cooked, if it looks cooked, cut in half, if not pink, touch it with a clean finger and if it is hot "ouch" it's cooked. :)

Put it in perspective a little, 1/2 lb a month is nearly half a stone a year. So 2 years and a stone off that's pretty impressive if you are enjoying your foods. Certainly better than the opposite gaining half a stone a year which at your age (mine too) can so easily happen :)

There is a raft of information about controlling diabetes with low carb and intermittent fasting. It's my belief that small adjustments can have big impacts on our health.so not necessarily a need to go keto or 24 hour fasts. Just consistent better habits will help.

I guess you can put it in tea but if you can wean yourself of it you will reap health benefits and aid weight loss.

Years ago I had two teaspoons of sugar in tea and coffee. Hate it now. Cut down gradually and your taste buds will adapt.

Re: Clarinetgal's check in!

The more you can eat unprocessed food the more satisfying you will find your meals.

Sounds like you are heading in the right direction, well done :)

I believe peri menopause can start mud to late 40s so not really unusually early at 43. It can play havoc with all sorts of things, go with the flow and it will settle.

"Strange, but we humans are resilient. The answers lie in how I treat each individual I encounter." Love that auto. Do you think your weight increase might be age related. Peri menopause is a funny time. Apologies if you are too young for this yet! We are living in stressful times that can also affe...

Hey Soprano! Your stability and kindness is great to have around right now. I feel buffetted by waves and feeling more fear about my body than I have in a long time. I appreciate your solid presence right now as I try to remember this will pass. Hey Auto thank you so much for your kind words. All m...

We've had a few RVs (motorhomes in the UK) great holidays but limiting in the UK. Parking was always an issue. Guess that won't apply in the US. Enjoy your search.

Check for damp, pretty common in the ones over here and layout is important. :)

Robin you are doing great, we all slip up. The thing is to learn from it, on its own it won't cause a weight problem it is what you do afterwards that matters.

Sounds like you are doing really well. Cutting sugar will really help. I kinda combine nos with intermittent fasting. I do IF for health reasons. If you can leave 12 hours between dinner and breakfast I'm sure there are health benefits. If you then want to explore it further it isn't hard to slowly ...

So much in this thread resonates with me re IE. I think the best thing I took from it was there is no bad food and I can have what I truly want. I learnt that actually when I stop and taste what I thought were treats I really didn't like them very much. I think reading The French don't diet by Dr Wi...

Good to see you back Octavia and what an interesting conversation. Re exercise I got a yoga dvd over 2 years ago with two 30 minute sessions. I committed to do it twice a week becoming familiar with one program then the other. While I try and set a day to do it if I don't fancy it I never force it. ...

Hi Auto, thanks for stopping by my thread. I'm pleased you have your sabbatical confirmed. Bet flowerpup is loving the long walks. The habit book sounds great. Like you I notice my sleep and also moods are worse after drinking. I'm trying to limit it to weekends. It has tended to creep up during loc...

I hopped on the scales this morning to find I'm at my lowest weight in over 15 years.

I'm really pleased.

Thanks to a combination of IE, No'S and IF I think I've settled into a way that suits me.

Hope you are all doing ok

Re: Tenth year

Sounds like a perfectly sensible solution to me Dave. I've listened to my body a lot during the pandemic and not added to my stress with too strict an eating regime.

It's paid off too with weight loss.

I definitely second the advice above re who to listen to re the pandemic.

Stay safe

Which elements are you hoping will get easier? Not snacking has definitely been easier over time, it is rare I have a snack unless I am genuinely hungry and a while a way from a meal. Though on holidays and celebrations I do. Not eating sweet stuff I don't even think about anymore as I made a consci...

Really interesting posts to read about IE. I too had some success and similar experiences with it. I would recommend anyone who feels they can't do without certain foods or feels deprived do some reading and work on IE. It can be done within the confines of NoS. The hardest part for me re IE was dec...

Since my post on Jan 2nd much of what I decided went out of the window over time. Too many rules just don't work, though it kept me focused for a while. During my first year on NoS I lost a stone, then due to stress at work I became lax on the rules and steadily put half a stone on. During lockdown ...
