Hi GermanHerman, As a general rule I'd say I agree with you. Moderation is the key to a long and happy life for a myriad of reasons. The issue I came across with sugar is that the only way to get to the "moderate" position was to first eliminate anything with added sugar then I was able to add back ...

Hi wosnes, I've eaten (almost) sugar free for 2 years now. I started it long before I heard of no-s just because It seemed logical to me that we just don't need all that sugar. It was pretty easy for me to cut out the added sugar and now I've lost my taste for it and rarely eat sweets of any kind. I...

Ironchef, thanks for the words of support. There is a book called " The Long Goodbye" which I've never read but I think about the title daily because it so accurately describes what happens when someone you know develops dementia. I've had to say "goodbye" to my Mother so many times already that I t...

Hi, I agree with Germanherman. You can,and should, make the s days fit your schedule but it has to be consistent. I'm not sure your 500 calorie per meal goal will be realistic as you get closer to your running goal. If you find yourself ravenous and grouchy, you may have to increase your fuel intake...

fail again  Didn't eat enough dinner and ate too early. A clear recipe for failure. I've been sad because my Mother can't come back to live with us when she is discharged from rehab. ( broken hip + dementia) She'll need 24 hour supervision And we just can't provide it. It makes it harder to m...

Day 1: success
funny business to report. I had a " second" bowl of soup but I'm not counting it as a fail because you really can't eat soup any other way and it is all I had for dinner. Well that and the slice of French bread. Anyway, clearly not a fail in terms of overeating.

Ironchef, Your right about putting it away!! I've actually had to resort to just not buying it to begin with. But my daughter had a birthday party last weekend and they were left over. I recently de-lurked myself and I'm also "a lady of a certain age" :) I also cook from scratch. Unless you are "tasting" the equivalent of a small meal, don't worry about the the tasting. I find that keeping the process simple helps me stay focused. For me, I use the "sucks my energy" test for simpl...

I was thinking something like this regarding running. I trained to run 1 Mile with my daughter in the spring but I have plantar fasciitis so I ended up with a very painfull foot. I did make the mile though and learned I like to run. So, I had the thought that if I incorporate 1 minute of running int...

I had my evening snack of chips but they were not as good as I imagined they would be; should have gone with a fresh plum instead. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

Day 4: success . Ironchef, we humans are a funny bunch aren't we? The smallest thing can send us through the roof with glee, or conversely, spiraling down in misery. Stepping out of the lurking zone to add some accountability. I've been loosing weight but am trying to reach the "don't have to think about it" stage. De-lurking and checking-in

Hi, I've been following the boards for a few months now. I've lost 20 pounds even with significantly less than exemplary compliance. A bit of background . . .I eat a very nutritious diet but I do love my wine in the evening and salty snacks anytime :D Before starting No-s I had eliminated added suga...
