Honestly, I just had to white-knuckle-it until my "habit" was to not eat as opposed to eat mindlessly. Occasionally, I would outright say, "put that away, I don't want to eat it." It was alwa...

Perhas you could order a "fancy" non-alcholic drink ( Shirley Temple springs to mind but there are others) or get the ingredients to make your own. You try new recipes all the time so it shouldn't be too glaringly obvious.

Linda, the sleepover story cracked me up  maybe the Mom meant she wanted to meet you and her daughter thought she meant hangout? It's hard to imagine she really wants to hang out with a stranger. A politic phone call might do the trick.

Hope you have a nice day.

Hi reneew, have you tried making a list of why you want to establish new habits? Feel better, have more energy etc. Then refer to it several times a day. Especially right before you enter a risky time of day. (For example, in the car before you arrive home from work) Another idea is to remind yourse...

I'm a big fan of whole milk. Well, really, I'm a big fan of raw whole milk but that's really hard to find in suburbia. Unfortunately, I fell Victim to the idea of " milk fat is bad for you" and raised my kids on 2% and skim so now they don't like the taste of whole. So sad. Coincidentally, I'v...

I also agree with oolala regarding the need to establish firm meal times/habits. A few things that helped me are, in no particular order: 1) ready my breakfast the night before. In my case I have oatmeal every workday so the night before I put out my bowl with oatmeal and nuts. (no milk yet :) I cov...

Day 10: success if I keep this up, I'll finally make my 21 Day challenge. It does seem to be getting easier. Several things seem to have coalesced to make things so much more doable: My glass ceiling is firmly in place so alcohol related eating is gone; I'm finally willing to struggle and be ok with...

Hi Orlan, It always helps me to understand how folks are defining the words they use. I'm wondering what you meant by made myself eat only meals, Do you mean you ate three substantial satisfying meals or do you mean you ate only the bare minimum possible to get through the day? Or, do you mean somet...

Butterfly, I've tried a million times as well. I've been no-sing for well over a year and I've never made a 21 day streak yet. I look at it this way: If I try I might succeed but if I don't try I'm certainly not going to succeed. Good luck :)

Well, I'm giving SP a 21 Day trial and then I'm sure I'll know what I want to do. Day 9: success For some reason it just got easy(er). There were ...

It was a huge help for me when I was able to relagate sweets (and chips) to the "not real food" catagory. Now I'm able to just toss leftover sweets in the garbage because "they aren't real food." It saves me a lot of will power/decision making later on that's for sure.
