Why do I like NoS? Because it is the most sane way to eat. Because I don't have to obsess and wrestle with 'can I eat this or that?' throughout the day. Cool! We seem to have a lot in common food-wise. I had four chocolate-chip cookies for Saturday's 'breakfast' - sugar, fat, flour - Just wrote a long blog about it. Toast and marmalade was on my plan. The cookies tripped me up! And, yes, even sugar-free, fat-free cakes are still 'cakes' ac...

Addiction, moderation, and slaying the dragon

8) you're welcome! This morning, Saturday morning (quite early - before 7am!) I came down, made my coffee, got my packed lunch ready for the day........... and sampled the cookies I'd chosen yesterday. I know that sugar is a big thing for me, and it's incredible that I now go 5 days every week witho...

Yes please, also new and would love to join you. How does it work? Do I make a little calendar like yours and come back each day? Thanks Yes, that's the idea - you come back each day and edit the grid. If you click 'quote' on this post - then delete everything above this - then 'submit' you will ha...

Welcome! This is the most sane way of handling eating that I have come across in my 61 yrs! I hope you get a grip of it and enjoy it too. Read the posts on these boards - go over and listen to/read the podcasts - get the book - and post here every day for support and encouragement. That's my advice!...

Thanks for your comments - and I totally agree with you about the way it's almost like they want us to be fat! I didn't have a really robust plan when I went into the shop after work today, and wandered around looking at all the stuff - took me ages to select the least damaging 'treats' for the week...

Tuesday SUCCESS I used my 9" plate this evening - I'd made a cauliflower cheese, potatoes, peas & carrot - and I could only get 3/4 of what I'd prepared onto the plate (without it overflowing!). I did have a peach for 'dessert'. I've settled into a routine where I almost always have fruit with my me...

Well done with the no-sugar life - it's great, if you can do it. Actually, I went out to a proper English Afternoon Tea with my son & daughter-in-law recently, and I was sorely tempted to have the 'savoury afternoon tea' instead of the usual cake, scones & jam one. This weekend I managed to S-tuff m...

Re: Back again

But I have been having pain in my right knee. I went to the Orthopaedic the other day and they told me I have arthritis. They gave me exercises and told me to lose weight. So I started no-s again. Every extra pound translates to 4 pounds of pressure on the knee. Pain is a good motivator, better tha...

Monday SUCCESS I put on just over 2lb after the Sweekend. If I wasn't a seasoned No S-er I'd be freaked out by that! But experience tells me that two N days will see the scale go back down. Although I have just eaten quite a large bowl of pasta - it was a 'normal' serving size, but more than my usua...

I feel like I've eaten quite a lot this weekend, but I haven't really......... weight will be up a bit because I've eaten bread and pastry items, which always makes me heavier for a while. Also trying to drink more water each day - it's not something I find easy to do. I've just roughed out a Breakf...

Hopefully you'll see the scale go down again on Tuesday and Wednesday. My weight always goes up 2-3lbs after a weekend, but over time, the highest weight, on Monday morning, is now lower than the lowest weight was before - so the overall trend is downwards. Try not to panic.

Tuesday SUCCESS

Wednesday - off to visit son & daughter-in-law for a couple of days & taking them as NWS days (but will stick to No Seconds for sure!), and be mindful of portion-sizes. With snacks I will take a moderate amount, if I want to.

I'll report back on Saturday!

I was hungry quite a lot today......... but just had my three meals. I did have a hot chocolate mid-morning, instead of a cup of coffee. That helped.

You've had a good first week. The chai was fine by the way.

I know there are other people who move their S days to Friday and Saturday, instead of Saturday and Sunday - for similar reasons. As long as you make a rule and stick to it, it should be possible to establish a robust habit.

I agree that apples are filling - they are just not as crave-able as salted peanuts (for me)

I also agree that a feeling of hunger is a poor indicator for most people. Sticking to an eating regime that works for you sounds healthy to me.

Tuesday FAILURE I had a great day - but stuck my hand in the peanut jar after dinner. I can't figure out why - I'd had a perfectly fine dinner and felt 'full'. The only thing I can think of was that I'd had an appraisal at work and maybe I 'needed' to crunch and smash something with my teeth?!?! If ...
