I don't think milk or juice is CHEATING, but I'm going to also admit that if I'm THIRSTY what I drink is WATER.

Now, I do drink a great deal of coffee, so I don't know if I can necessarily get on the liquid purity high horse.

I do think that this is an excellent thing. I'm strict. So much so that in the beginning I made a pact with myself to tolerate hunger even if it were uncomfortable between meals. Why? As far as traditional "American", I'd say my mother's typical summer dinner of sliced tomatoes, summer squash, butterbeans, corn on the cob, and cucumbers in vinegar (yes, I know cukes are Olde Worlde) would be about as American as you can get.

My son made pulled pork sandwiches for us for dinner, and we had chocolate chip cookies for dessert. I enjoyed it immensely.

Though I do need to teach the boy how to do a proper North Carolina style barbecue.

I sympathize with your struggles, talia.

I think that going ahead and developing the habit of being able to take S days EVERY weekend might solidify your N-days. The primitive parts of your brain will learn to trust that you're never more than five days away from a snack, second or treat.

Food Prices

I don't know if many of you find a reduction in your grocery bill when you start eating No-S. I did, and I'd always been pretty frugal in terms of groceries.

As food prices are rising, I'm finding myself grateful that I've gotten used to only eating at meals and keeping portions relatively small.
