Well done for sticking with the plan under stress. I think that putting out all your food at once on one plate and sitting down to eat is a good habit to get into. I have found it useful.

Good to hear that you are making some progress with the exercise. I think that starting with avoiding snacking sounds good, as is just concentrating on one habit at a time when you already have a lot on your mind.

A period of not gaining weight is good - it is called maintenance, and is also a skill we need to have to permanently lose weight.

Hi TeacherJ, welcome.

As for advice, mine would be consistency, regular tracking, honesty with oneself and don't try to change too much at once (unless that is really your thing).

Also, use No S to reign in the eating overages before trying for restriction (dieting).

Good luck.

Re: ladybird's check in

April had a bit of a shaky start, but I have settled down into a nice regular eating pattern of 3 meals and no snacks at the moment, and my overall success rate was higher than last month.

Weight was about the same, 142 - 143 lbs.

You do have a lot going on at the moment, so good to hear you are OK. Lovely that Sweetpea felt able to talk to you and Doc about something so important to her.

Well, March was reasonably successful, with a compliance rate of about 80% for N days. Ended the month at the bottom of my current weight range, which was pleasing. Mar weight - 142 - 144. Also starting to regain my fitness after a break last year. Thurs April 1 - failure. Had supper - b'fast was sm...

I use a spreadsheet for No S, & the number of steps I do. But to keep track of the exercises I do to keep my body functioning I have a sheet of paper which sits on my kitchen bench.

Portion control reviews - success was mixed. My weight has stabilized at 142 - 143, which is good, but no further weight loss. After the first two weeks, I started getting hungrier and my Nos S compliance slipped which is not good. It turns out that imposing artificial portion controls rather than e...

Yes, I often do the same when I am trying to hit a steps target. It makes it more manageable.
The other way is to get a good chunk of my steps by a morning walk, & pick the rest up through
incidental activity during the day. Either way gets me out of my chair.

Any food that is not picked up off the floor is clean, & I can't even begin to imagine what a dirty fast is.

The last thing most of us need is applying terms like clean to our food & eating. Hair shirt anyone?

Normally a change in my food plan for the day will throw me into a tailspin (because I’ve always lost weight counting calories). But I ate half of my dinner I ordered (too much food for one meal!) and then stuck to my plan. I even skipped my evening snack because I still felt full. Well done Zoid

Welcome & all the best for your 6 month experiment. As far as genetics goes, you probably already know that most modern health conditions with a genetic component also need the right (or wrong) environment to trigger those conditions. When I was a child, back in the 1960s, there was one fat kid in m...
