Ummm... how many times have I restarted already? Sticking with No-S long term is a big issue for me. I do fine for a week or a week and a half, and then... go figure. I am also VERY indecisive if it comes to sugar. Sometimes I think I'm seriously (on both physiological and emotional level) addicted ...

Definitely an abstainer here! I remember the summer when I didn't have even one bite of dessert - and we were on vacation then, mind you (plenty of temptations around!). At first it did take some willpower, but after three or four days of "detox" skipping sugary stuff was easy-peasy.

How to combat cravings/sugar addiction?

As my experiment with incorporating small portions of sweets in my meals failed terribly, I am now giving vanilla No S another shot. I do fine on Mondays and Tuesdays, but in the middle of the week I always (ALWAYS) start getting intense cravings for sweets. They don't go away easily :/ If I give in...

Being a European, I fondly remember the time before the ubiquitous "americanization" of our eating habits. 3-4 reasonable meals a day (Poles are known for having "second breakfasts"), predominantly homemade sweets on special occassions (usually Sundays) or received as gifts. Virtually no snacks, exc...

Anyone else noticed...

... that eating sweets after meals doesn't provoke such an overwhelming hunger and craving as eating them BETWEEN meals?

I'm going to be writing a post about limiting variety. I've been thinking about it for months. Looking forward to it! Variety is a killer to me. Because I'd rather go out to shop for food only once a week, I end up with a packed fridge, and I have a REALLY hard time resisting a nibble of this or a ...

A cup of HOT tea seems to curb my pre-dinner hunger pretty well. When I'm feeling naughty, milk with half a teaspoon of honey and some cinnamon or almond flavoring. Hot liquids seem to be much more satisfying than cold ones, plus you have to sip them slowly.

And I thought I was so original... ;) To all of you who're doing (more or less) the same thing: please keep us updated on your progress! I know what Reinhard says about mods (premature optimization and all that), but after 6 months of idiotic S-days, I think I'm finally home. Of course, I don't use ...

It Probably Isn't No-S Anymore, But... (EXTREME mod)

Hey guys! I've been away for a long while, experimenting, going on and off No-S, struggling with S-days, and trying various fad diets. And now the prodigal daughter returns... sort of. S-days have always been a serious problem for me. So I've tried a really, really EXTREME mod - which works! I eat t...

Three green days under my belt. So far so good! I love 3 meals a day routine, it fits my lifestyle and it's definitely something I'm going to stick to for life.

I'm planning some nice treats for Saturday and Sunday, but drilling myself in "you can't fail on S-days".

OK, Reinhard, you win... again. I'm not going to mod and tweak, and I'll try to remember that I can't fail on S-days. So I'm giving No S another (hopefully long and successful!) shot. But no tweaking this time, no anticipating failures, problems and solving them before they appear. No snacks, no swe...

S-DAY seems like too much room for bingeing. Single events (heck, even if you decide to take all of the week's allotment on the same day!) are more mangeable to me.

I don't really get weekend S-days, that's the thing, Julia. I don't know about you, but lots of my socializing falls on weekdays (and almost none of it on weekends) and these are the days when I'd like to be able to have a piece of cake with friends. When I follow the "orthodox" version of No S and ...

Julia, to cut the long story short, after a conversation with a very wise person who used to have the same problems as we do, I've decided to have treats (S-events) whenever I feel like it, sort of "emergency safety valve", but eat them as slowly and mindfully as possible. I remember my experiments ...

Thanks for you thoughtful responses, guys. I really do have problem with S days. I stuff myself silly just because I can and, you know, "OMG it's Sunday already and I won't be able to eat pizza/ice cream for the next 5 days! PIZZA! LOTS! NOW!". I guess you could call that the "Last Supper syndrome" ...

No S days?

I've been away for a while (the usual busy schedule + a lovely dream trip to Sweden!), neglecting both the forum and my check-ups. I also fell off the wagon several times. But I'm back, determined 8) I know that S days should be a "safety valve", but I personally believe that some of us are abstaine...

All right, all right, I haven't been very consistent, both with the HabitCal and this thread. And, to tell the truth, not with the whole plan either  But I DO want to start over. Anyway, I've observed something which makes me think I need to introduce a mod if I want to stick to the general rul...

Thanks for the replies :) I think I'll go for weekend S-days. As for the mod, thanks for your input, oolala53! I know that getting from one meal to the next without snacking will sometimes be extremely difficult, so being "moderately restrictive" makes A LOT of sense. I do hope to lose some weight (...

Mods in the beginning?

Hi, I've been a long-time lurker and just recently finally decided to disclose myself :) I'm very, very excited about the whole concept, its simplicity and a great dose of realism which is - I believe - the very foundation of this "diet". I've been a compulsive eater for about 10 years, tried countl...
