Oatmeal is pretty low on most glycemic indexes, rating in the low 40s. It's a "good" carb. I like it with cinnamon and raisins. Re: Chugging along
It sounds like you have a plan you can live with, that you have a baseline, and that's a great thing. Once you have a plan, you can make adjustments if it is not working for you, but you can't make adjustments to something you can't measure. So keep up the good work! I currently average about 2 succ...

Re: Fear of not eating healthy enough
There is nothing about No-S that precludes you from making healthy food choices for your meals. One thing that is getting in my way of making a commitment to following no s is a fear that I won't eat healthy enough (to prevent heart disease, colon cancer, etc.). Yet, I really don't eat all that well...

Tuesday February 1 - Success Wednesday February 2 - Success Saw 184 on the scale last night, but I'm sure I will be heavier tomorrow. Still, I feel like I'm doing okay. Absolutely stir-crazy with the snow, though. I would love to walk, but it just isn't safe - it's mostly icy. Oh well. The ice will ...

I definitely find I can delay lunch a lot more easily than I can manage the hungries at 5:00 when dinner is at 7:00. At lunch, I'm staring No-S in the eye saying "Pfft. I'm tougher than you." At 5:00 p.m., I'm a 98 pound weakling, getting sand kicked in my face by No S. Wise choice putting off lunch...

I wouldn't try too hard on an S day. I mean, it's a really good idea to ask yourself "do I really want this" and then "am I hungry, and is this worth the calories", then say "I'll have it in five minutes", you know, be a little selective. But, if you want it... eat it. Sooner than not you'll settle ...

It sounds like you have gained a lot of insight into what sets you off. You mentioned Ezekiel bread, which is made with a combination of flours - including bean flours - which provide quite a bit of protein and much less carbohydrate. And you shunned the cookies (highly refined carbs and fat). It lo...

There's another post in this forum about a weigh lifting personal trainer's recommendation for "getting ripped" - walk 40 or so minutes a day on an empty stomach. My personal experience is that the best way to flatten your belly and get rid of belly fat - assuming you are doing some resistance work ...

It's Saturday. My son had a match so I did not do as much exercise as I would have liked. Then again, I would not have had much to do as there is snow everywhere I would normally walk (making it unsafe, not merely inconvenient). Oh well. Sunday was fine, too. I still have nowhere to walk and that's ...

You do not have to eat more than you want to on S days. If you arrive at an S day and do not want to eat snacks, sweets, or seconds, then don't. Often, on S days, I just have seconds. Today I had two pieces of pizza at lunch where I would normally have had one. I don't snack much. I might have a coo...

I don't think there is any question that getting on a moderate diet will make you look like you've lost weight before you have. Maybe Blithe is right and it's just a redistribution of water weight or something. But don't you feel a little lighter too? I have really only lost a couple of pounds, but ...

It sort of seems oxymoronic. A bagel, by definition, is boiled first (so the inside is cooked, but chewy) then baked (so the outside is crunchy). If it's a "thin", it's just bagel-shaped bread. I've had them. I wanted the "everything" toppings on sandwich bread. They were... okay. wosnes, a friend o...

Re: Avoiding a binge
I've had the same feeling. I think it is important not to beat yourself up. Finish the snack and have a good laugh at your weak-@ss self, get up and do something that will keep you busy for a while, get you out of your head. Sigh. I just "caved" and ate a snack on an N day. Not a big deal in the gra...
