I used to love weights but really hate gyms these last few years. I found some good toning and strength can be developed with yoga. Also great for suppleness.

I have consistent success by cutting carbs and not worrying about fats.

If you stick to 2 meals a day make sure there is sufficient fat and protein in the meals.

Keep at it.

I agree totally that weight loss as the only goal does seem to take too much willpower.

I'm in this for health reasons now, weight loss and vanity were the reasons I started but health is keeping me going. I'd actually be happy weight wise if I didn't lose any more but my health needs me to.

Re: automated eating tracker

Sorry to hear that Challenger is having a tough time but it is just typical behaviour, they can be so difficult. I think sometimes they are experiencing so many physical changes and don't know how to express how they are feeling so they end up lashing out verbally or physically at parents. All made ...

You are creating great family memories with the hikes.

Good move to reduce meal size too.

Have a good weekend.

Thanks auto. I really hope so. Our family does seem susceptible to diabetes but it is reversible at this stage.

Must admit it has been surprisingly easy to cut carbs and reduce alcohol intake so far !!

Re: Soprano

The eating carbs came to an easy and abrupt end when I got my HbA1c reading. I've tipped into prediabetic. I was quite shocked 2 years ago it was 41, last year 40 and I was hoping to have dropped again but now it's 43!! I suppose the last 3 months haven't been as good as the rest of the year but it ...

I stopped harassing my son about his schoolwork when I realized he was doing better than I thought, this was last couple of years in high school. He had a first disastrous year in college then switched courses and did brilliant. Uni wasn't so good. I just tried to make him understand it was down to ...

Oolala have you tried yoga I've been using a dvd with 2 x 30 min programs for 2 or 3 years now and it has really toned my muscles, I can feel a difference in them and my flexibility is so much better than in the beginning.

In the beginning using habitcal kept my days green.

Coming on here and reading other threads.

I have drifted from time to time but other than fasting I haven't followed any other diets. l use No s as my default position.

That's pretty powerful from your parents, how did that make you feel?

Sorry you are back in lockdown, we have 2 weeks left but I'm expecting further restrictions.

Sustainable is the key point. I dabble with fasting but really only between 12 and 18 hours. But I can see how it can become addictive and certainly for some it is a god send.

Slow weight loss is hard to live with at times but those half pounds soon add up :)

Oh poor you, I have a smear test next week. I recall a very painful one a while ago.

No way can you really put a pound on in one day!

Just normal bodily fluctuation.

Bet it's soon gone again. :)

I echo Autos points re reading. I worried about my son's ability when he first started learning to read, he soon caught up and started to devour books.

He loves reading still at 26. Keep it fun not a chore. :)

Great post, much the same for me except I did join to lose weight and whilst I'm happy where I am I could do with losing more.

I know how to tweak it to do that and will continue to do that when I'm ready.

The clean plate club is really hard to leave.

I too have more success these days at recognizing and being able to leave sweet things when they are too much. Part of what helps is having full permission to have some another day :)
