Excellent article. His point - that no one strategy works for everyone - is certainly borne out here. We have people who eat four, three and two meals a day. Me? I'm good with three. I get hungry shortly after waking up and am rarely hungry at night so eating at 7AM, 12:30PM and 6:30PM are just righ...

You are starting today! In the original version of No S, the mantra says No Snacks, No Sweets, No Seconds except (sometimes) on Days That Start With S.

You can practice the sometimes, if you so desire.

Habitcal is a great piece of software. But I too have never been able to get pass the red mark. I use Joes Goals. I have it set up if I am compliant I get a smiley. Life got unraveled since my last post. However, despite being in the field for three days and an over top 4th of July (oreo fluff) my weight has been stable. Good for you, Uncle Al. I think you'll find it to be a sane, sensible way to eat better. I tend to think of dividing the plate (1/2 veggie, 1/4 protein, 1/4 carb) and day time vegetarian as guidelines while No S is a rule.

This kind of title drives me crazy because the answer is No, exercise does not make you fat. It's wildly overestimating how much impact exercise has on weight loss that makes you fat. However, people being what they are will use this to rationalize not exercising because they don't want to get too h...

Of course exercise doesn't make you fat. It's using the exercise to rationalize poor eating that makes you fat. But try telling that to someone who doesn't like exercise and is looking for an excuse to not do it. How easy it would be to say that you aren't exercising because you want to eat better? ...

First of all, you are not binging because of lack of self control and weakness, you are binging because of a complex interaction of habit, brain chemistry, and external cues that signal you to overeat. This interaction can be overcome, but it's harder to do and takes longer to change than most of us...
