I have been at this five months and lost 8 pounds - and I think that is pretty great - so to me your loss is fantastic - Congratulations!

Love it when the butter drips down through the holes in the crumpets :)

Yesterday I had a chocolate HobNob with tea. So simple - but it was so perfect :)

I don't think there is any reason to buy new, smaller plates or bowls. It is not necessary - having a large bowl doesn't mean you have to fill it to the top . Fill it with what you think you need, eat as much as you need and stop eating. Over time you'll get the hang of filling it with the 'right' (...

A few weeks ago I added what might be another 'mod'. I have been at this long enough (five months) to have settled in enough that I just don't care to do anything else, and I can't see myself ever doing anything else. I've been living with this mod for a month and it's working well enough I feel con...

organic valley has added a grass-fed butter to their line. It is more expensive than Kerry Gold, at least here.

We go through 8-10 pounds of Kerry Gold a month.

One of the big problems with corn is that nearly all the corn in the US is genetically modified and should be avoided. But it's in nearly everything - so it's tough to do. Same with soy. Cattle that eat the right food for them produce healthier food (meat and dairy) for us. Grass-fed beef is healthi...

The month is nearly over, and looking at my habitcal, I see one red splotch in a sea of green and yellow. It's so easy now to stick to, green is the default. That one red splotch doesn't really bother me. I didn't make a connection at the time. But the red day was the birthday of my little sister wh...

I don't cook any of those recipes anymore. I didn't use that many to begin with, and living in England cured me of it since you can't get that kind of soup there. But some people I know use a white sauce, or just cream in place of the soup, depending on the recipe. Instead of bouillon, I make chicke...

I'm down a size, which I think is significant. Due to my ..ahem..age and the fact that I'm hypothyroid and that the weight I have to lose is from taking steroids, I think it's even more so.

Hello to you, too :) Wow, that's one of my old days, isn't it? I"m still eating a lot, though. Kombucha is a fizzy, probiotic drink made from tea. Thompsons - I think that may very well be true about being more difficult for women. But I find I am enjoying the feeling of saying, even if just to myself, 'No thanks, I don't eat between meals'. And Wosnes - I agree - it's certainly not only our culture that offers food/drink to be hospitable. Sha...

It is a common thing. I still eat far more at meal time than I used to in my pre-No S days - but less than I did the first month. Along with that, you've got post-diet deprivation to deal with. Hopefully it will level out before too long.

I agree with simply saying 'No thanks, I'm not hungry' , and dropping it. Though someone always seems to say 'you're so 'good' or I wish I had that kind of willpower - I'm always hungry' or something like that. The candy bars in the desk drawer reminded me of a bit some comedian did years ago. I don...
