This "diet" is cool. It gets much, MUCH easier the longer you are on it. Keep that in mind in your initial stages.

As far as exercise goes, it's going to depend on your metabolism. I will point out that Reinhard's discussion of Urban Ranger gets him moving for over an hour a day, and he's a young(ish) man. Older/shorter women don't lose as easily or as well. I exercise a LOT. But that's mostly because I've gotte...

In general, I decide how far or long I want to walk, turn on a gps tracking app and go. Before my smartphone days, if I'd decided to walk for half an hour, it was not unheard of for me to walk fifteen minutes in a particular direction, then turn around and come back. I love listening to audiobooks w...

Re: Struggling

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for me...my biggest struggle is if I don't eat anything between lunch and dinner I am so hungry I gorge on dinner and into the evening. I feel like I'm eating enough for lunch and am full. I don't know if I just stick with it long enough I'll get over it. I fe...

I have a problem with lower body pain as well, and am not much of a fan of the upright exercises. If you enjoy swimming and have access to water on a regular basis, I will say it's a very pleasant alternative. The book does not forbid sweetening coffee or tea, ya know. It's no SWEETS, not no SUGAR. ...

Milk is a drink. I strongly encourage you, if you can swing it, to get a copy of Reinhard's book and read it. He discusses this at some length in it with great clarity. This is more about habit than calories. It is certainly better to have non-caloric drinks, but technically this is cool, and can ev...

Yes, it's effective. No, it is not magic. If you follow the rules of the diet, but binge on the weekends, and things like that, you probably will not lose weight. Had an interesting thought as I am procrastinating on my swim training. The whole point of what Reinhard recommends as an uberconcept of everyday systems is that you're doing something unobtrusive and habit-driven that has a large cumulative effect. Shovelglove for 14 minutes every N-day is a good e...

Little Victories and social props

I work in an office now. This means that I am often surrounded by eating opportunities. That's not so bad, as I can just... choose not to. It's the little parties that can be a pain sometimes. A co-worker I am pretty fond of is transferring to another department and there was a party for her. So, is...
