I would think so. It's modeled after how "normal, healthy" weight people tend to eat. If you have nothing to lose, No S is a great insurance policy. It might also make you feel more in control and enjoy your food more. If you have something to lose, No S will get you there a most pleasant, sustainab...

I got a flexbar thera-band for my "uppy elbow" aka "golfers elbow" that my three year old boy likes using as a sort of shovelglove (well, more like a straight up weapon really), he calls it "the rubber truncheon." Not a bad gateway shovelglove... though now I sometimes have trouble finding where he'...

Grain-based desserts are #1 source of calories in USA

"Grain-based desserts" are now the top source of calories in the United States, according to a recent analysis in JAMA internal medicine. That doesn't even include "dairy desserts" (number 10) or soft/energy drinks (number 4). Shocked? Disturbed? Depressed? I prefer to look at it in a more positive ...

Wow, these are some beauts. Thanks for posting!

My 9 year old daughter will get jealous if she hears your son is starting -- not sure whether to keep that a secret or use it as a motivational tool.

Best of luck to you both and definitely keep us posted!

1. follow the shade, even if leads you a bit out of the way 2. don't carry around heavy bags (especially backpacks -- if necessary, better to carry a backpack in your hand than on your back on a really hot day) 3. Use an anti perspirant that actually works 4. don't get overambitious. Even a 5-10 min...

The Granola Gap

I found this fascinating (and rather attractive) infographic in the New York times illustrating the "granola gap," the difference between how healthy various foods are according to scientists vs. public perception (with granola bars the discrepancy was particularly shocking). I don't think it's an a...

Thanks for the feedback! Interesting how solving one problem reveals the next "bottleneck" -- happens all the time in software. When I would do shovelglove, I would turn on Netflix and watch a particular program. I would lose count, but as long as that hammer was moving... Another reason perhaps why I've gone to smaller rep count sets :-) and would love to know how your personal S-days go, for example. I'm strict about when...

Welcome! Sounds like a very sensible mod -- by easing up on the "no sweets" limitation, you make S days less necessary. You could call it the "3 meal diet."

I'm a big fan of "vanilla" no-s, but it's not the only flavor that works.

I'm glad to see the 14 minute thing is catching on...

I always thought it was the most power aspect of shovelglove.

Thanks for the link! I tend to stick with unvaried ungodly numbers of pushups and squats for my travel 14 minutes, this will be nice to mix it up a bit.

Welcome!

No S is the ultimate cure for diet head.

It wouldn't be much of an exaggeration to say that the only reason is the word "diet" is even in there is to get the attention of diet headers in search of a cure.

Welcome back!

It's certainly possible, but I wouldn't focus on that.

Focus on the habit.

"Eat and move moderately, see what happens."

That's the No-s way to best calibrate your expectations.

Best of luck and keep us posted,
